(I'm posting this here as I'm not looking for a review of the site - more to discuss the concept itself.)
It's a gaming site with a difference. Mainly, people can only post in a consoles section once they join that consoles club. Why? To eradicate all the silly negative fanboyism type posts you find on nearly all the big gaming sites out there. We also have a Rants section in each consoles section, to keep all criticism in one place - these are not shown to guests or non club-members, again, in our effors to deter negative fanboys. Our emphasis is very much on the community. The site's pretty new, and the concept seems to be working. Sony's own semi-official blog even had a piece up about us (hence why the PS3 club has the most members right now). I'm especially interested in what your views are with regards to the impact this kind of community will have on posting and activity. Is it too restrictive? Is it great because it cuts out all the immaturity? What do you think? (The URL's in my sig) |
