holy CRAP this is frustratng (forum display)

All I want are threads to be shown from the most recent at the top and oldest at the bottom. I have default sort field set to 'thread title', show threads from last month, and in ascending order. If i change it to descending it doesn't seem to do anything. Someone help me out here please.
