Navbar editing changes popup menu alignment

If I remove:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="memberlist.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[members_list]</a></td>

from the navbar, the alignment for the Search and Quick Links popups moves to the left (relative to where they normally would be). How can I edit the navbar but keep the popup alignments "correct"?
