Can anyone suggest a news plugin?
Ideally you'd set aside a forum as a "News Forum", and:- 1) You'd be able to fire off a PHP script on another page (eg: your main site page) to list X threads as site news. The initial posts subject, message and date etc could all be used accordingly. Comments against these threads would not be shown. 2) Replies to the news threads would NOT change their order. We managed to find one plugin, which did not include a date feature (you couldn't show the date the news was posted) but we managed to add that. HOWEVER, the biggy is that the standard behaviour of VBulletin is that forums are weighted. ie: A comment to a thread a year old pushes it to the top of the forum. note: Regarding the one we found, the plugin to list the articles on another page (as news article) is not affected by replies - ie: A response to a year old post, does NOT push it above more recent news post. So the problem is just VBulletins standard behaviour ![]() If only you could choose if you wanted a forum "weighted" or not ![]() |
