Music influence survey

Informal, not a poll...open for debate and discussion. Thats what this thread is intended to be. The question I ask is, "would you consider any music/artist/bands from the last 25 years to have had or may have the same lasting influence on society and new artists as the rock legends from the 60's". I don't know alot about the music from the last 10 years, but submit that bands like The Police, The Clash, The Ramones and perhaps even U2 have had similar influence as artists like The Beatles, Doors, Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Who, etc. Look forward to the responses
