Colums and Navbar????

I've inserted a colum onto my forums following the intructions from here
And i can't insert a navbar that fits. it either pushes the 2 images apart and places itself there or pushes itself and the forums to the bottom of the colum image.
I was hoping to get a forum navbar like this
Can someone help me with this please?
