make a cat act like a forum

I would like to have my cats look the same as a forum, IE, Last Post, Threads Posts, it would make my site look a lot cleaner, is there a way to do that now, or would I need to have a mod done???

basically what I would like is the same info that is in the forum in the cat's, maybe in a drop down form, so ppl can clcik on the drop down link and go to a forum, if not drop down, just plain text like the forums have now
