External attachment Linkage
Yes I'm so aware you can post a simple link to link up the file, however the reason I'm proposing this is because its cleaner and looks more organized.
Sometimes I want to put in the attachment a file that's over the limit size for PHP upload, so I want to FTP it up, and then just manually add the link, and attachment.php will link up directly to it. This needs to be on a per-usergroup basis, as myself I'm not too comfortable allowing guests/members to do this, but my moderators/admins I'm more comfortable with. Yes I'm highly aware I could just post the link, but: 1) Doesn't look as nice 2) Can't keep track on who's accessing it, and can't use the vBulletin permissions to block em from access it 3) No signal on forumdisplay there is an attachment when you post a link. Sometimes people look for those |
