Getting specific dates for a recurring event

Hi,

I'm working on an application that needs to list the next 3 occurances of an event, but have not been able to figure out a way to pull the actual dates from the event. I'd like to get an array of dates for an event that I can then use the first 3.

Are there any functions in functions_calendar.php that could help with this? The only thing I can think of is to loop through each day in the range of an event and check cache_event_info to see if it's occuring that day. I worry about the efficincy for that process and was wondering if anyone had a simpler method.
