Automatic Thread Creation
Hi all,
I've searched the boards and I havent found my solution so hopefully some of you can point me in the right direction. Here's my dilemna... We run vBulletin (Linux, php) as our board (duhr) on one server and we have our regular website (Windows, ASP.NET) on another (both hosted in different locations). On our ASP.NET machine we have a CMS system we've built for the custom areas on our site. One of these areas we are developing at this time will allow users to "Dicuss This Article". I dont want to have them discuss it on the website, I want them to discuss it on the Message Board. Here's where the tricky part comes in.... In our CMS, we want to allow the user to create a new article and then press "Save/Submit/Whatever" and then have it create a new thread on our vB-Box (linux). At that time we'll also need to know the thread ID so we can place that into our CMS so when we display the page to the user we can display the proper link. The thread that will be created will have a title and message that comes from the CMS (we'll pass it in through the POST or something like that). The user that will create this will be a default user such as "Section Admin". Section Admin will be the ID that will create the thread. How would I go about having a remote application create a thread on our LINUX board and then have the board return the ID of the thread so I can use it in our application? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |
