Navbar Banner Ads

I'm setting up a banner ad system and would like to locate the ads in the "empty" central part of my navbar. Despite playing with the code for a couple of hours, I can't make the banner appear in the center and be viewable to all groups.

Attached is an mock up of what I'm trying to achieve

Any assistance much appreciated . . .
