Uploading big files (300 megs +)

Now I know that it may not be meant to upload a 300 meg file, but I waswondering if it is possible (and if a script can be provided - that canbe modified to my likings to incorporate member system etc) to upload300 meg files via php (ftp? function) to a directory on the server.
