Email Driven Posting, Forum Viewing
A few of us in a resource group in my company are looking for way to make our groupwide email searchable, organized, and available for further use without storage in all of our mailboxes. The idea we have posed uses a message board (I have selected vBulletin since I many of the boards I am a regular at use this software). Although, We would like to operate the board a bit different that I have seen before.
Situation: We currently have an exchange email group that we send emails back an forth to the 20+ resource group members with. These emails consist of at least 5 different subject matters that we would like to sort into groups. Goal: As simply as possible integrate the board into our mailing group so that all the messages sent across the group are sorted and stored on the board (attachment storage would be a big plus also). Ideas: I have done some searching and it seems as if Colin F has produced something (vB 3.0.3 - vB Mail Reply) as well as Chen (vB 2.2.x - Email posts into forum). That may be a great help. Grand Plan: Impliment a naming scheme (i.e. [XXX-XXX-XX]) to be added to the subject line of each email that would not only send the email to the group but post a copy of the message board. If someone were to reply to that email (i.e. RE:[XXX-XXX-XXX]) the reply would be added to the same thread without any additional emails being sent to anyone. Please let me know if you think this is possible and maybe if you are a coder/hacker and you would like to help out (we are willing to pay for some coding assistance). Thanks!
