Inserting Threads from external source.
I'm looking for a little guidance, or tips for something I'm trying to do. I have my main site, on a separate domain from my vB forums.
I have a rating system on my main site that allows visitors to post feedback on thier Internet Provider, and rate them in several categories. I'm doing away with the comments, and turning it into an advanced poll system that will link to a specific thread in the forums related to that company where they can post thier textual comments. What I need to accomplish is two-fold. I need to create a new thread for the 500+ companies listed in my DB, and each time a new company registers at my main site, a new thread will be created in a specific forum that I have defined. Second, I need to import all of the text comments that I have recieved to date into the vB forums as guest posts. I know that I will have to modify the thread and post tables, but what other tables information will I need to consider? I'm not concerned about the data, because I only allowed simple text input, no HTML, etc. TIA for any advice. |
