Tips on Importing from NNTP?

I know Impex can't do it directly but I'm hoping someone can point me to enough schema documentation that I can figure out how to make it work.

The plan I have so far is to import the users from the CSV file I have. I see you can assign an ID so I plan on assigning the ID they had on the NNTP server (a 2-5 digit unique number). My hope is that I'll be able to reference that so I can insert all of the message data into the proper tables to build out the forum to somewhat mirror the NNTP layout. I have a local database of all of the messages from the various NNTP groups but after looking at the VB4 publishing suite schema, I've gone cross-eyed. Has anyone done this type of thing before or know what table(s) I need to put my message data in so that everything functions properly?

Initially I want to import all users into one group then create all of the forums and import the posts then go through and create forum level access based on the groups. I'll have to go through the users by hand to add everyone to the proper groups but that's fine by me. What I'm most worried about is getting message data in to the right forums and associated with the right user.

How about just a generic post importer? I can't sort out what tables are used for what by looking at the vBul MySQL schema. The guys over at vbulletin.com tell me there are at least a dozen tables involved.

I have subject, author, message text. Does anyone know of just a generic post importer? What I need help with the most is just figuring out which tables need to be populated in what tables. I can do all of the forum associations by hand.
