Help with mod (counter)

Hello everyone i really need help right now with my page,

I need a modification that be able to make the reply post dont count for a certain group of users, only the replys.
Let my explain better, if and user of certain group replys on a thread his post dont count only if he make a new post will count.

I think it can be done by moding the class_dm_threadpost.php but i try to do it myselft and i fail, im a very new with php lenguage thats why i need help with this.I hope someone can help me with my problem.

Im running vb 3.7.2 pl1 right now.
