Setting defaults for private forum in Vb3.6.9
Hi all, new Vb user here, hope you can help me.
I have a number of public and private forums on my site. The private forums are not visible to users unless they are signed up for them. I have the forums set up with "No" selected so it doesn't display to nonmembers. I add each member to a specific user group and give that group permission to view and post in their respective private forum. Today I added two more private forums, set up the same way but they were visible to ALL users. I checked some of the non member permissions and saw that the permission for the new forms automatically set to default. Shouldn't the default setting have prevented them from viewing the new forums since they were not members of the usergroup with permission to view it? What am I missing? I don't want to manually change each members permission setting each time I add a new private forum. I really would appreciate some help with this. Thanks! --------------- Added [DATE]1208397732[/DATE] at [TIME]1208397732[/TIME] --------------- Problem Solved. I found that if I enable some of the options in the users "Access masks" it tweaks the default setting to allow that user to see any forum that was set in the default mode. I re-set everything to default under the users Access Masks and the usergroup permissions began working properly again. Not sure why setting the Access Masks to allow special permissions in one forum would allow that user to see any private groups set to default but at least I have things running again. |
