Please help with html stuff!

I just need help here guys, simple but is taking me long to figure out how.

I have a side column on the site where I display button ads

but as you see, it loads the header, then the navbar and then it takes long to load the rest, is because all that is wrapped on 1 table and in IE6 it will load everything before is displayed.

The question is how do I make that right column on the right or left but I need the main body of the forums to load fast and then the column can take time to load banner per banner, know wht I mean?

Any ideas on how to add that column there and not have it ruin the performance of the site?
