Restrict RSS feeds and Podcasts to members only?

I don't want anybody to have access to RSS and/or podcasts but I'd like to use RSS feeds and/or podcasts to inform forum members when new attachments have been added to various forums.

I presently send emails to members but perhaps RSS and/or podcasting would be more efficient.

I have one download attachment forum that contains sub-forums for various pdf documents.

I'm running latest vBulletin.

Questions:
1) Do forum permission settings automatically determine who receives RSS feeds and podcasts? If not, how do I restrict feeds/podcasts to members only?

2) If I list the main download forum only in the podcast/rss feed will vBulletin automatically search then feed/podcast attachments in sub-forums? If yes, please provide example of how to. If no, do I have to list each sub-forum as a separate RSS feed and/or podcast?

3) Should I just stick with using emails to members for updates of new magazines?
