Login/PM/Welcome in HEADER..not working?

I have this problem.. see:

I've tried to move the login, PM and welcome screen to a table cell wich I've put in my header (simply-> to display it at the very top of my forum).

..The problem is that when I log in via the login I've put in my header.. it doesn't display the welcome and PM bit, just stays the same with the login inputs. (I get logged in, though it just does not change o_0)

Any idea what the problem might be?

This is my layout:

Custom template -> called in the header template with a condiditional ($mytemplate)
