How to make Positive and Negative reputation equal?

I am simply amazed that this isn't standard in the reputation system and even more amazed that this hasn't been hacked yet. Maybe it has and I just missed it.

Is there a hack to adjust the power of positive and negative reputation? Right now it's 2 to 1 in favor of positive rep. Even horrible posters end up with substantial positive rep.

Is there a hack to make positive and negative rep equal or to somehow adjust the ratio to make it a little more realistic?
