BB Code Enhancements - Embed XHTML valid YouTube and Google Video into your posts

Just thought I'd share what I did to allow my users to embed YouTube and Google Video videos into posts on my forum. This is my very first mod I've made since switching to vB, so forgive me if I screwed something up.

The black bar will be different for you as it'll match your theme (it uses the same style as the whole quick reply box).


Upgrading from v1.x:

Just remove the plugin you added before (manage plugins -> delete) and then continue on to the installation instructions.

If you already have v2.x installed, you do NOT need to do this.


Installation:

Download and install the attached product. It will automatically create the new custom BBCode and add in some filtering plugins.

Save the two attached images and upload them to /images/editor/.

Using vBAdvanced? It lacks the hook this plugin uses apparently, so if you wish to use this plugin with it, you need to use only the video ID and NOT the full URL for it to display correctly. Nothing I can do about it, it's vBAdvanced's fault.


How do I customize the look of the new box thingies?

Just edit the new custom BBCode items. It's in the admin area, near the bottom.

Works Nice On 3.8.4

Little modification since Youtube is going Wide Screen

Open the Product File with word pad and replace the numbers

425 = 560

340 = 340

355 = 355

400 = 572

326 = 342
--------------------------------------------------------------------
(This what happens when you push the + Sign, take note that ratios must be equal if you wana play with sizes, 638 x 380)
638 = 897

515 = 533

Uninstall the product if you already have and re-install it with the new one u edited. (You have to UNINSTALL and then Re-Install so that edits take effect, overwriting product will NOT do.)

I'm having an issue with this in 3.8.5. It worked flawlessly in 3.8.4 but since the update it simply wraps the video url in [url] quotes within the [youtube] quotes. Here's an example of the code after it is changed:
[YOUTUBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDyXdAf3LR0&feature=grec[/YOUTUBE]

If I only use the video ID without the url it works:
[YOUTUBE]LDyXdAf3LR0[/YOUTUBE]

Any idea how to fix this?

Same here. As a workaround, either enter only the video id or uncheck the 'automatically parse links' box before submitting the post.

I just installed this on 3.8.4 and it didnt work... it just had the you tube url inside of the you tube brackets. Didnt work with the You Tube ID only either ... Any idea?

Snake I couldnt figure it out but I found another one that worked great. Required no tags in the post. When a user puts int he url for a video it automatically embeds it into the post. Here is a link to it.
