There's a vB4 version of this mod available: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231427

DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

Because a lot of people keep on asking this:
This mod works with any version of vBulletin 3.7.x and 3.8.x!

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

You can find an installation manual in the zip package (Readme-Install.txt).

We try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if we don't ask for them, as we said we try to give a high level of support in this thread. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find 6 screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software. You can see the newest version in action at the Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).

Changelog (version 5.1.2)

Jelle
  • Backported CSRF security fix from the vB 4 release
  • Added permission check for Update Counters
  • Fixed PHP warnings when running PHP 5.3
  • Removed the imagecreatefrombmp() function. It doesn't exist.
  • Added permission check for rating submissions
You can find all the changelogs of this and older versions here.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the second most asked question. Have a look at this post for the solution.

It doesn't work with GARS?!

If you also use the latest version of GARS, you will get the "Fields marked in RED must be filled in!" error when uploading a file. I provided a fix here on the GARS forums.

Addons

We are offering 3 addons for this mod at the moment (have a look at the bottom of this post for them). DownloadsII contains 5 hook locations for the vBulletin plugin systems, so you can add extra functionality without file edits.

Do you want to help expanding DownloadsII (if you are a coder)? Check out this post!

Notes
  • ecDownloads Buddy is NOT compatible with this version. If you are using the Buddy, you should UNINSTALL it before installing DownloadsII ver 5.x.x. The Buddy's features are now integrated into DownloadsII.
  • DownloadsII is a direct derivative work from Ron1n's ecDownloads.

one more thing would make this mod the best ever.

Giving the links of the files in formats matching the vbulletin format if files are going to be used in threads for example
Code:
[img]./downloads/whatsoever.ext[/img]
also links to the files to be able to post them in threads and they'll be downloaded directley from there.

I don't understand your question.
You can link in the forum like:
Code:
http://www.yourforum.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=285
This will be converted to a clickable link and the only thing a user has to do is to click the "download" button.

You don't want to put direct download links in your forum, because that way everybody can download the files and discard any restrictions made in Downloads II. You wouldn't need something like Downloads II in that case.

Nevertheless the possibility of editing a file exists and is used. It saves you the trouble of rewriting description and re-uploading pics.
Ofcourse, I fully agree with you there.
And it would be nice if there would be a build-in option to have a choice to just edit a file, or replace the file with tne new file. Agree with you there too.

Hope RS-Jelle will get back soon.

I could not find this through the search function of this mod thread, so I am asking here:

Is there a way to restrict members from downloading files until they have made X amount of posts?

Also, I just found a member that is bypassing my download restriction for non-supporting members. I have a limit of 3 downloads per day for free members; however, he figured out that he can change his IP address every 3 downloads, and go all day long. So, I banned him, but it shows a major deficiency to this software. I make restrictions based upon usergroups, with named users in them. Why is the download software restricting based upon a different variable that I cannot control? That is not a good thing.

How can I change this?

No unfortunately there isn't. I needed that too but as far as I know this feature will only be available in the vb4 version of Downloads II.

I don't think that the check is done against ip address, except if you allow downloads for guests because that's the only way to check guest downloads.

Check your guest settings. It might help to add some download amount (in kb) limitation to be sure that users can only download a max amount per day.

You need to create a file named .htaccess (note the period in front of the name). Put the following two lines into the file:

Code:
php_value upload_max_filesize 30M
php_value post_max_size 30M
Upload the file into your forum directory (the same location where downloads.php is located.)

This will increase the size of the file you can upload to 30MB.
Hmmm I have an .htaccess file already. However it in a directory up from where the downloads.php is located.

For instant my .htaccess file is located within /www
and the downloads.php file is located within /www/forums

What do I do?

That doesn't matter. You should have the .htaccess mentioned by RSJelle in your webroot diretory.
So in your case that would be your /www directory.
If you already have a .htaccess file in there, add the 2 lines RSJelle gave you.

Is is possible to force the Create New Thread addon, where it says Thread Discussion to be bold & underlined?

I have tried in the template but it doesn't take. Any suggestions?

added, I also tried though the phrase adding the u and b code, it does not parse and shows as the tags.
