Display Unread Posts and New Reputation Comments
Developer Last Online: Nov 2023
As of 24 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.
Note: The unread posts portion of this hack only works if you use the database thread marking system, also, this attaches itself to certain phrases in the "welcome" box and will not work if they are not present (or are modified by other code). FYI, the Forum Marking Choices are located in vBulletin Options ; vBulletin Options > General Settings > Thread/Forum Read Marking Type The Read Marking options were removed from vB 3.8.11, it defaults to database marking. ** For vBulletin 3.8.11 you will need to use the Unread-posts-3811.zip ** This displays the actual number of posts that are still considered unread by you (and will show up in a 'getnew' search). It also displays the number of new reputation comments since you last checked your usercp. There is the option to count the unread posts since your last visit, or all posts considered unread. This setting reflects the divider in the 'getnew' search display. There is also the option to disable the unread posts display or the new reputation comments display. There is also the option to display the New Reputation Comments counter as a Welcome Box Notification. All settings are located in vBulletin Options > Display Unread Posts and Reputation. Version 3.8.001 adds support for forums excluded if you have the "Get New/Get Daily Opt Out Modification" installed (by Andreas). Version 3.8.004 adds support for forums excluded if you have the "Selective Forum Filter Modification" installed (by Psionic Vision). To install this hack unzip the xml file and import it using the ACP Product Manager. History: v3.8.001 : Initial vb 3.8 Release. v3.8.002 : Fix forum exclusion bugs. v3.8.003 : Fix spelling and phrase bug. v3.8.004 : Added support for Psionic Visions Selective Forum Filter. v3.8.005 : Updated version for vBulletin 3.8.11 (only). Hi, I love this mod and so do the members. Unfortunately it's not working since i upgraded to 3.8.2. I suppose its because of the database thread marking system? Would you explain how i can fix that? I 'm still somewhat of a nOob and don't know where to go to fix the database thread marking system. Thanks for any help.

Upgrading would not change the DB marking system.

*installed* I'm gonna be a perfectionise nitpicker, but you misspelt "Exclude" in the mod options, there it is spelt "Exlude" or something similar. great mod nonetheless Thanks alot |

Yep, you are correct. Fixed locally in my cvs, but I'm not releasing an update just for that, people can edit the phrase themselves if they notice.

I'm having a few problems with this plugin, im trying to exclude a forum from the unread posts feature, i dont want it to recognize new posts in a certain forum, but when i do i get this message when i try to click on the 'display undread posts' in certain usergroups, it doesnt seem to happen with mine, but the URL changes to:
http://www.codershangout.co.uk/searc...0UNDEFINED%5D/ and it just ends up being a blank page. nothing loads on it. Can someone help me please? I really need to get this sorted i have tryed sorting it but no such luck. |

Hey Paul,
Thanks for this mod. However I'm running into a slight issue which I just discovered today. After I've logged into my site, I see where my site seems to think I have 1 or more unread postings, so I click on the link to show unread posts since I last longed in. When the page reloads, I get a white page and it acts as though it can't find the Cascading Style sheet settings. Under what would normally be the navbar, it says "No Users Matched Your Query". I've already uninstalled the last few addons thinking they may be causing it but no luck. I had your 3.7 version of this mod installed and it was doing the same thing so I just upgraded to the 3.8 version; however, still no luck. Any thoughts? |
