[YUI] Tabbed Forum Home (TFH) version 4.0.8
vBulletin version: 4.1.11 - 4.2.0 Older versions need original mod for now Description: This MOD is for creating a "Tabbed" Forum Home Page to have Categories and other Data types (via Modules) displayed within Tab containers. Please do not confuse this with the Tab Menu System here at vbulletin.org. They are totally different systems. These Tabs actually switch the content via AJAX without leaving the main forums page. This is an entirely new version of TFH and only works with vB4. Management is all done via the Admin CP. Installation is done in 3 simple steps. Upload files, Import product, 3 easy Template Edits. Setup is now a breeze via the Tabs option in the Admin CP. The attached Zip File contains the Files and Instructions necessary to install. Incompatible mods Two columns of categories - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=275114 Upgrading to 4.0.7+ from previous versions We have had to change the mod's id which means when you install this time you will have 2 mods, the new version with its new id and the old version. Both can run side by side but shouldnt to save processing time. To migrate: Install the latest version and upload all the files (no conflicts to worry about) Install the latest product xml Follow the template changes in the upgrade txt Create your tabs in the new admincp menu option "EG: Tabbed Forum Home" to mirror the existing "Tabbed Forum Home" menu. Once done uninstall the product "Tabbed Forum Home" with productid bobster_tfh (old mod id) Change Log: VERSION 4.0.8 2nd August 2012 Changes: > Fixed several database bugs > Fixed several legacy redirect bugs > Fixed static path problem for scripts (this should resolve some 4.0.7 blank forum issues) > Thanks to Bluefin221 & LgsOfChampions VERSION 4.0.7 1st August 2012 Changes: > New Mod ID - YOU MUST MIGRATE SETTINGS MANUALLY > vBulletin 4.1.11+ required > JS loaded after drawing > Remote YUI JS (partial) support > Fixed instructions typo > All previous fixes in 4.0.5 that caused no bugs VERSION 4.0.5 27th April 2012 Changes: > This version should be used with vbulletin 4.1.11+ > Compatibility with JS changes in vbulletin 4.1.11+ > Upgraded to run with YUI 2.9.0 > Local versions of files to minimise loading issues > Upgraded to Dispatcher 2.2 > Reduced size of forumindextab generator and reduced size to boost performance > Added a template cache call to reduce load > Added loader animation and box when tab is clicked and loading. Thanks for the mod, working good (I still need to style it though). But one question, I have the mod "Vault Wiki" installed and this does not display any of the Wiki "forums" (the mod uses forums as a wiki) at all. No idea really, but was wondering if you had any idea on what I might be able to look into in order to get it to display these?
I looked into your Module setup, but I don't want them all displayed in a single tab, they are separated out into various areas of the site depending on their content/access, so I'd like them to display where they display currently, just in the forum tab with the rest of the forums in that category. |

Actually, it's not completely working right.
I have about 8 tabs I made, only a few of them seem to work. I've validated that the categories are in fact categories, but the subforums still do not display. Basically, anything 3 levels deep isn't displaying. Here's an example of my hierarchy: Root --Level 2 ----Level 3 If a category is at level Root or Level 2, then the subforums will display in the tab, anything under it, I can't get it to display.------Level4 |

Hello Bobster,
i installed your great innovation to our community (www.sprinter-forum.net)! It looks and works fine, but it is not the best performance at the load. I tested our website with www.webpagetest.org. And so I see what's the problem: Our dedicated server is standing in Berlin/Germany. But always "tabbed forum" is called, the modification goes to Sunnyville, CA. This is the not the shortest way from Germany . You can see the result at the attachments. At every time, if users push a tab, they goes to CA. This is really not very performant for us. Have I any chance that the integrated javascript not call in CA? regards Juergen |

That's because the yui is from yahoo and that's where it's hosted. Maybe they host the yui in germany too? If so, make changes.

Hello Bobster65:
First, I would like to congrat you for this mod. I think it is well done for creating the tabs in forum at the top level. I installed it without any problems. Second, if this method could carry to lower level of the forums, that would be a plus, because sometimes a very large forum could use tabs to make it simplier for the users. Third, if this method could also be done for blog and cms, that would add more capabilities for the vBulletin as well as making it simplier to manage information. Forth, if this method could also be done as a stand alone item, so that I somehow want to insert it in the cms articles or forum threads or in blog articles. Thank you very much for the mod. I installed, voted and nominated. Victor |

It's a fine idea and it looks very good, but ...
I've uninstall this add-on, because the YUI files, which this add-on is using, are in Canada. If I start a performance test (ex. http://www.webpagetest.org/), the result is not very fast. regards Juergen |

Ok, I have this working fine now, other than it not being compatible with VaultWiki. Once I can get those forums to appear in this as well, I'll be able to use it.
