[YUI] Tabbed Forum Home (TFH) version 4.0.8
vBulletin version: 4.1.11 - 4.2.0
Older versions need original mod for now

Description:
This MOD is for creating a "Tabbed" Forum Home Page to have Categories and other Data types (via Modules) displayed within Tab containers. Please do not confuse this with the Tab Menu System here at vbulletin.org. They are totally different systems. These Tabs actually switch the content via AJAX without leaving the main forums page.

This is an entirely new version of TFH and only works with vB4. Management is all done via the Admin CP.

Installation is done in 3 simple steps. Upload files, Import product, 3 easy Template Edits.

Setup is now a breeze via the Tabs option in the Admin CP.

The attached Zip File contains the Files and Instructions necessary to install.

Incompatible mods

Upgrading to 4.0.7+ from previous versions
We have had to change the mod's id which means when you install this time you will have 2 mods, the new version with its new id and the old version.
Both can run side by side but shouldnt to save processing time.

To migrate:
Install the latest version and upload all the files (no conflicts to worry about)
Install the latest product xml
Follow the template changes in the upgrade txt
Create your tabs in the new admincp menu option "EG: Tabbed Forum Home" to mirror the existing "Tabbed Forum Home" menu.
Once done uninstall the product "Tabbed Forum Home" with productid bobster_tfh (old mod id)

what im sayin zero, is that you know aswell as i do. that if a page is linking to your site E.G "Window Cleaners" google follows it and ranks that page for that keyword higher (with more relavance)!

So if all pages are interlinking in and out it makes the robot scan your pages multiple of times giving your website a great overall appearance.

Am i wrong?

Internal linking (aka links inside the same domain blah.com/index.php -> blah.com/somethingelse.php) do not have any huge impact on ranking at all. The ranking is based on external sites linking to your pages which is why sitemaps fix the issue and also the quality of the page content. How your site is internally linked is not the ranking factor.

Went in very easily - I saw this below and included <noscript> tags around the 'old' forum display script (rather than delete) so crawlers (who only see text) can see the standard forum layout. Also if A user has script disabled the standard layout is shown.

So far after 2 weeks using this I see no drop off to do with SEO, infact today I have had the most members and guests view my forum than ever before.

Was at 2000 or there abouts, today so far,

Having a slight issue:

Installed the mod, uploaded the files, made the template edits, installed the product, and set up the tabs in the admincp.

The tabs display the correctly selected forums and then repeat ALL forums afterwards. For example:

Tab 1:

Displays Forums Selected For Tab 1

Then Displays ALL forums again below those selected forums

Tab 2:

Displays Forums Selected For Tab 2

Then Displays ALL forums again below those selected forums

What did I do wrong???

One other question ....

How come I cant limit the user groups who can see the default tab? My site is going to be a closed site (in the fact that you can only see the forums after you register and your reg is approved).

3,4,5,6,7,8,112,9,10,98,106,107,108,139,138,120,105,129,122,123,124,125,126,11,12,110,75,15,16,17,19,20,119,121,76,77,78,79,80,81,82,131,21,22,23,74,24,41,113,25,26,27,28,29,42,130,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,39,40,139,43,44,45,46,47,48,49,50,51,52,53,54,55,56,117,57,118,58,59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73

but it cuts off halfway, is there a way to bypass the limit?

and is it bad for SEO?

i don't think it is bad for seo, plenty of forums have tabbed index's. Now, on the other hand, will having that many tabs confuse your users. Yes. In the most possible nicest way.
