I installed this with noproblems but how can I tell if its working correctly? I tried to run the task from the scheduled task manager but it timmed out. when I ran the sitemap generator from the admin control panel sitemap reports link it worked and recorded a report and even emailed it to me. What can be wrong with the scheduled task?

I got everything working now but when I run a report manualy compared to it running on its own. The numbers are way different. example total urls manual run 1,582,731, then when it ran it last night it did 1,050,806. Why the change?

Hi,
When run manually from the AdminCP, it uses YOUR permissions. WHen auto-run, it uses GUEST permissions. |

Do you have the .htaccess in your root directory? ie: Above forums directory?
Assuming you have something above /forum .. if you have ANYTHING above /forums, you are supposed to submit http://www.myforum.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz. Hence why the girl-talk one isn't working when called from http://girl-talk.ws/forums/sitemap.txt.gz .. it is supposed to be entered as http://girl-talk.ws/sitemap.txt.gz. |

I followed what I thought was right. I have an htaccess file names
htaccess.htaccess and inside it is RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L] thats located in my b20vtec.com/htaccess I have also done the following. I did 777 to every file that has to do with the vbseo sitemap that it would let me.. and the links that do and dont work. http://www.b20vtec.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz or http://www.b20vtec.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz since im not sure which it is. they both come back with the same results. I found that my sitemap_index.xml.gz file isnt 777 but it wont let me change it now. mod_rewrite and its on. and this link works http://b20vtec.com/forums/vbseo_site...p_index.xml.gz but I know thats not how it should show up. |

NOT "htaccess.htaccess" As windows will not allow you to make a file with no name before the . , the .htaccess file is included in the zip for you. If that doesn't work (for whatever reason) just rename the one on your server through your FTP client. |

thank you for the support. For some reason I moved the text file over then renamed it. I deleted that and moved the file already named htacess and this link works now http://b20vtec.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz. But what link do I submit?
http://b20vtec.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz still isnt working. Not sure if it matters but I have htaccess files in both my b20vtec.com/ and b20vtec.com/forums Using internet explorer to ftp in didnt let me see all of my files. Here is my htaccess in b20vtec.com/ RewriteEngine On # -FrontPage- IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti* <Limit GET POST> #The next line modified by DenyIP order allow, deny #The next line modified by DenyIP #deny from all allow from all </Limit> <Limit PUT DELETE> order deny, allow deny from all </Limit> AuthName www.b20vtec.com AuthUserFile /home/b20vtec/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd AuthGroupFile /home/b20vtec/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.grp <Files 403.shtml> order allow, deny allow from all </Files> deny from 68.160.217.211 ErrorDocument 404 /404.shtmldeny from 72.92.106.240 deny from 72.92.106.240 deny from 72.94.132.98 deny from 71.175.192.95 RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L] and in b20vtec.com/forums it looks like RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L] |

You could try putting forums/ in front of vbseo_sitemap (in your root .htaccess).
(I would advise editing that post and removing all but the part about the vbseo_sitemap redirects.. could prove a security risk to display your .htaccess like that). |
