Updates
==========================
1.0.0 - Initial release

1.0.1 - Bug fix update
? This release addressed a couple of small bugs. Information on fixing
these issues can be found in the FAQ. (Included in this zip.)

1.0.2 - Bug fixes and new features
? This release makes all games on the Arcade main page appear in the
order which they were installed, regardless of whether or not it has
been played. (With the newest games at the top.)
? It includes a
page navigation system, allowing users to browse games by page. By default, 10 games appear per page.
? There is also a new search feature, for finding games by name/description. (Accessible through the "Search" menu in the navigation bar.)
? This release should be less CPU intensive than previous versions.

1.0.3 - Bug fixes
? Security fixes

History & Hack Information
- So, what is the v3 Arcade?
The v3 Arcade is exactly what the name implies - an online games arcade that offers seamless integration with your vBulletin forum.

The v3 Arcade is the first of the new generation of vBulletin additions. Back from its roots, the v3 Arcade is the vBulletin 3 edition of my original Arcade written in late 2002 (not to be confused with futureal's 'ProArcade', which was written during the Arcade's beta phase).

v3 Arcade Features Include:
? Integrated Flash gaming for vBulletin 3
? Advanced leader board system
? FULL Mozilla/Netscape Compatibility
? Moderation abilities for Mods/Super Mods/Admins
? PM & Email notification for events
? Advanced statistics for all users
? A higher level of security
? "Arcade Challenges", 1-on-1 contests between users
? Arcade awards system
? Automated and manual score pruning tools

This installation comes loaded with the following games:
? Tetris
? Snake
? Asteroids
? Chopper Challenge
? Space Invaders

If you have the source (.FLA) for a game that you want to use in the v3 Arcade, you can send the required files to john@v3arcade.com for conversion. (Providing permission has been given by the original author.) Within a reasonable delay, I'll post the converted game and installation script on vBulletin.org.

Testing
Tested on vBulletin 3.0.3, across multiple unhacked installations.

Thanks to...
? Kura: For helping out with vB3 difficulties!
? Erwin: Whose vB2 Flash Player inspired the original hacks
? Paul Neave: For providing the source for 4 of the standard v3 Arcade games

IMPORTANT NOTES
? If you do install this hack, please click on the INSTALL button. There are going to be some updates for this which you're really not going to want to miss!
? Each Arcade page has an Eovie Interactive and Flash Player link at the bottom. This is optional, but greatly appreciated.
? You may have noticed that this release of the v3 Arcade is not fully phrased. To phrase the arcade would require well over a hundred phrases to be added, making for a lengthy installation process! Futures version of the v3 Arcade will be phrased, with a more automated installation.
? And don't forget - BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL!

Regarding the "ProArcade"
There has been a lot of debate on vb.org recently about the ownership of hack "concepts". My original Arcade hack (on which the v3 Arcade is based), was a progression of the my vBTetris Leaderboard hack - both of which came about before the ProArcade. I've spoken to Erwin regarding this, and he can confirm that this has always been an independent development; hence the v3 Arcade was authorised for release.

Fixes
If you're installing the Arcade from scratch, there are no fixes or updates to be applied. Simply follow the instructions in Installation.txt.
If you've already installed the Arcade, make the changes in Updates.txt.

how do i uninstall so i can fix this problem... in admin CP i cannot add games, i dont get that option...
You won't have this option (right now) with v3. You upload the X.game.php file to admincp and execute it directly. That is, of course, if I understand you correctly.

Yes, I accede that John put out a good product, but it has run its course.
If I remember the definition of defunct, it means no longer in use or is inactive. Well, I think that the activity of questions asking for assistance, questions on use, etc. would go against this definition. There is still life in this and a lot of other modifications. I may be biased with this as I still use v3, but is that not the point? Sometimes a mod is made that is used at first and lost in the shuffle of new mods and then rediscovered. I scan these forums whenever I can and have only gotten back to about 2 years and am still finding stuff to add. Heck, I am starting to look at the vB2 mods because there are some great ones there that do not seem to have made it (officially) to vB3.

Moving to an oldies but goodies forum? Honestly why would vB.org maintain two seperate categories of same-type mods and having to constantly manage them and decide when they are not actively used any more? I know I would not want to do that!

Point here is why even bother with "retiring the old mods"? They are all useful in some fashion. If it is because they have people asking questions and the original author is not responding, maybe others will. If it is not useful for one person, that does not mean it is not useful for another.

Not trying to bust your chops here or anything, just an opinion.

Ok, I have a small problem.

I just deleted all users with 0 posts, and half of them had #1 scores at games. Now I get an mysql error every hour due to that. Any quick way to fix this?

I hate upgating mysql everyday due to this.

Read back about 4 pages. I posted a fix that should work for you. Without a copy of the error, though, I cannot be sure. I believe the error you are seeing regularly is caused by search engines refreshing themselves looking for those IDs.

Is there a way to make it so that only users with a certain number of posts can play in the arcade?

Please the only reason there is life in this is because its here.
You know I know this thing is a resource hog and isnt really "good" code. Yes its free and yada dada but this guy is in no way supporting this. I see no differnce in this and say... vbindex. Good idea... even started out good... hey even works good... but isnt really supported and DOES have issues.

vbulletin forces you to go here if you need help with anything that is slightly off of factory code. Once your here its a free for all. I can relase some butchered up code and it can sit here for ever. why are there so many moderators with no moderating?

jokes.

The way i did this was to set up a usergroup called "arcade users" and restrict the arcade access to that group. You can then set up an automatic promotion in the admin cp so that any users that have made "x" number of posts are moved into the arcade users group.

Almost everything you put forward here I can agree with. What I do not understand is the moderation comment. I do not see what you quoted me as saying has anything to do with what you posted.

It is my opinion is no matter the age, there will still be use for a lot of (maybe not all) old mods. That can be proven by what I have found in 2 years of posts I have gone through and found plenty of either mods I put in or mods that gave me insight to do something similar.

Again, who out there is qualified to tell me what mods are good or not good for my sites? Not an attack, just a comment.

Now let's continue with this thread in what it was intended for, shall we? v3arcade discussions.
