Inactive mode feature for server load optimization
Honestly, unless you are on a shared server resource (which most are) which is maxxed out, you shouldn't notice any difference.
I've had it enabled and people complain because they minimize the window and have to refresh or wonder why it "timed out"...
Didn't you post before that you had issues with resources or loading of all the chat history? I really think it's your host. That's why I host my own sites.
And inactive mode works just like a timeout basically. No activity and it "disables" the chat until you type or hit refresh.

Thanks - that gives me a better understanding.

Nope - must've been someone else. I've never had issues with resources or anything. And I'm currently on a Virtual Private Server and don't have any performance issues. I just like to keep speed high and server-loading low as much as possible.

Got it. Thanks for your help. I'll leave it disabled for now.
Virtual Private host = shared Not dedicated unless you incorrectly described it.
If you keep the history under 200 lines, you should have virtually no performance issue. I keep mine at like 100-125 and have yet to hear anyone complain. You also don't want it set so low that nobody has a chat history.. ie: 10-20 lines.
