Default RSS feeds into CMS

Has anyone tried writing anything for RSS feeds going into the CMS directly? Promoting one thread at a time from forums is very tiring and time consuming

I do not have VBCMS (I use VBAdvanced), but it would not be to hard to rip apart the AdminCP/rssposter.php
Dupe the functionality w/ cron job and make it post into CMS categories vs. forums.

EX: ( call it AdminCP/rsscmsposter.php )
- RSS Feeds
- - RSS Feed Manager
- - Add New RSS Feed

There will need to be a few tables made in the database to hold the data for the new add-on.

I may be missing the point.. but I use RSS feeds for BBC News and BBC Sport on the front page of my CMS. Doing so was as simple as adding a couple of the built in CMS RSS Widgets - they work great.

The content isn't actually inside of the CMS then - its just an external link.

Anyone see this pop up yet? Would take it for the blog or CMS...

Yep, that is what the VB RSS Widget system does.

The VB RSS forum system is of course usually used in a very similar way - showing a small teaser of text and a link to the actual story on the actual site.

I use both a lot and really like them. We have a mass of RSS feeds of one sort or another, and from NASA to the BBC they all work via a small amount of info and a link to the main story on its home site.

Me too! I would like RSS feeds to appear as articles in the CMS section.
Maybe there is a copyright issue - I don't know if the author makes and RSS feed if they automatically allow it to appear on other websites in full.

It is annoying to have them in threads only - the whole point of having CMS is so that visitors can come to your site and view the manages content. Using RSS to consolidate all the relevant news is the whole idea, I thought. I have an RSS feed from the New York Times and it starts a new thread every time a new article appears, but, it would be better to have this show up on the home page / CMS pages so that visitors can, at a glance, see all the news from all the sources appear.

Any help, mods or code is appreciated.
