About this hack:
One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'posts boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' when ever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.
There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.
Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks yous so a thread can look readable with out the thanks yous thrown around.
Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.
What this hack does is fix ALL these problems - except those users who like post boosting. This places a button called 'thanks.' When a user clicks on it, it places his username in a box right under the post saying that so-and-so says 'thanks' for the post. Every-one who clicks is placed in one box.
By giving your users the extra feature, you forum will look allot nice and organized. It is a guaranteed liking by ALL the members of your forum.

In AdminCP > PostThanks > running the Recounters options might correct this. Might not.
When I upgraded for some reason it wiped the post_thanks table clean. I was able to recoup the data and upload it to the live database. I jsut wish I would have seen the recount feature. Now I really feel like an idiot after all the work I put in to manually set all the counts via assorted conversions, uploads and updates.
sateurope,
How did a group of members disappear? And, how can you change the group's thanks count if they're gone?
Haven't a clue. When I upgraded vB and then installed the new mod version all of the date in the post_thanks table was cleaned out. Strange. Since I did a full backup of the sql database right before the vB upgrade I was able to pull the old post_thanks data from that locally here and after much pain of converting things back and forth between MS Access, a database program I kind of know quite well to sql. I was able to restore the data to the post_thanks table, post table and user table.
Now I beleive if I had known about the recount feature I would ahve only had to restore the post_thanks table and ran the recount.

So you are saying, to make this right, after upgrading to vB 3.7 and installing the new plugin version, the post_thanks table on the backup should be copied to the new database then use the Recount feature ? That's all ??
Everything works! Only problem I see is there is no icon for where you click thanks. All there is the word thanks. No thumbs up! Anyone know why and yes i uploaded the image!
