About this hack:
One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'posts boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' when ever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.
There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.
Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks yous so a thread can look readable with out the thanks yous thrown around.
Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.
What this hack does is fix ALL these problems - except those users who like post boosting. This places a button called 'thanks.' When a user clicks on it, it places his username in a box right under the post saying that so-and-so says 'thanks' for the post. Every-one who clicks is placed in one box.
By giving your users the extra feature, you forum will look allot nice and organized. It is a guaranteed liking by ALL the members of your forum.

I've recently upgraded to 3.7.1 PL 1, PostThanks 7.6, vBadvanced CMPS v3.0.1, all albums 2.3, and Tag Cloud 1.0.
Since then, some of the thanked posts (High Fived on our board, due to a phrase change) are now showing up with a N/A rather than a link to the post that was given the thanks.
Code:
Thread Date Posted By Comment
N/A 06-15-2008 11:45 PM Tned High Fived Post
Any idea what is causing this? Any fix? Thanks
No clue. I would have to know how to duplicate it.
Thanks for this great hack, it's very useful for my forum.
But it still miss 3 stuffs very useful (and well , necessary for my use)
1) That the "thanks" button doesn't appears on the messages of the author of the thread (inside the thread)
2) We should have the possibility to set that Only the creator of the thread should be able to give a thanks via the button.
3) We should be able to restrict to "thanks" just one person in a specific thread and just one time. Once the author has given a "thanks" to one person on his thread, all the thanks buttons disapear of every posts of the threads, like it does when you give a thanks to a post...except that the "thanks" button disappears only on the thanked post
Do you think those functions could be integrated soon?
Thanks
3)
Number 1 is done already. Check the ACP options. I dont think I will do 2 or 3.
I don't want to show the number of times thanked etc under a member's user name. Could someone please tell me how to turn that off. ASAP. It's causing a headache on my site.
Thanks so much!
Dawn
PS: I use dreamweaver to edit code when need be, but I can't seem to find what to edit.
