Note - The mod author has been unreachable for some time, but the vbulletin.org community has stepped up to provide a number of individual fixes over the years. ForceHSS, Hippy, and Seven Skins have all combined many of these fixes into product files.

That said so you don't need to apply a dozen + small fixes yourself you should consider downloading one of the updated packages below:

- Original File Specs: post_thanks_7_82.zip (26.4 KB, 24844 downloads) - Original file removed, replaced with patched files including search fix (some admins noticed hackers attempting to use outdated code to exploit search in attempt to gain administrator password or similar).
- There are five total patched versions available, some with and without the search fix - I've replaced the main file with the patched versions... please be sure to download and install the correct version, the main mod post contains links to additional information and patched files!
- If Abe1 returns he can request these packages be removed.


About this hack:
One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'posts boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' when ever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.

There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.

Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks yous so a thread can look readable with out the thanks yous thrown around.

Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.

What this hack does is fix ALL these problems - except those users who like post boosting. This places a button called 'thanks.' When a user clicks on it, it places his username in a box right under the post saying that so-and-so says 'thanks' for the post. Every-one who clicks is placed in one box.

By giving your users the extra feature, you forum will look allot nice and organized. It is a guaranteed liking by ALL the members of your forum.

Which Plugin is best to hide the content of the post if user have not thanked the OP.

That doesn't mean the mod is bad. Phones do not use some hooks, especially if you are using tapatalk or forumrunner.

It doesn't work on Browser also. Now what is the solution?

There is no "fix" because nothing is wrong with this hack. You'll need to do some diagnostic work to find out why it doesn't work for you. Many, including myself are using it on 4.2.1 and I get rave reviews about it daily. I would turn off any other hack that uses show thread and/or postbit and one by one turn them on until the hack that is interfering is evident. That's the easiest way get it working.

it works fine for vb4.x.x without any issues except with minor warning in my side on Chrome browser and possibly because of another mod!!

Some further information on error displays in 4.2.2 ;

As part of the php compliance changes, error reporting in 4.2.2 was fixed to take account of the new strict & deprecated errors added in php 5.x

A side effect of this is that old (existing) errors that were not showing up may also now get displayed.

All of the errors we encounter during testing were corrected, but there may be more.
If you encounter such an error, then please log it in the vB4 Jira project, so we are aware of it.


If you need to disable error displays, there are several methods, depending on your circumstances and technical ability.

1. Add this line to your php.ini file (production sites should run like this anyway)

display_errors = Off

2. If you cannot access your php.ini file, add this line near the top of your config.php

ini_set('display_errors', 'Off');

3. Use the option added in 4.2.2 to suppress messages if you have products or hooks in use that still generate errors.

Goto : Settings > Options > Plugin/Hook System and then set the "PHP Compatibility" setting to 'Yes'.

This will change the error reporting options within vBulletin on the first hook that is run.

If you have vBulletin Suite (i.e. Blogs / CMS) or you have the Panjo Product enabled, this setting will pretty much disable the Strict & Deprecated messages anywhere.

This is because all three of those products use the "init_startup" hook.

If you don’t actually have any of those running, you can create a dummy plugin yourself - use the "init_startup" hook, and just put a comment in the php section.

This will cause the option to suppress errors after init_startup has been called (which is at the start of almost all pages)


4. This is for those who feel comfortable with editing files.

In class_core.php locate lines 5683-5685

        case E_NOTICE:
            // Just ignore these completely //
        break;

Add lines for Deprecated and/or Strict errors as required ;

        case E_NOTICE:
        case E_STRICT:
        case E_DEPRECATED:

This will bypass the additional error reporting.

I've tried to reinstall it, after my forum was hacked.
Now I have 4.2.2 version.
