Editing Phrases, Changing Messages
Hi all,
First, let me say that I searched every combination of words i could think of here and on Google to try to figure this out for myself but I just need a push in the right direction. What I am looking to do: Change the text in our "pre"-registration message referring new visitors to read our FORUM RULES. "If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below." I have searched the Phrase Manager and found all kinds of phrase names, but I can never figure out how to edit the actual text. Please help!! Thank you so much. |

You need to make a "translation". When you're editing your phrase there's a text box below the phrase which allows you to "translate" it. That's how you edit your phrases.

I had the same probem earlier today...I wanted to change a vBulletin phrase.
The instructions aren't easy to understand. Anyway after a while I figured it out. ACP > Languages and Phrases > Search in Phrases > "enter whole or part of the phrase you are searching for" > Once found, click the translation option and edit it there. > click SAVE. |

I have a similar, but different problem.
I have set up a forum that is locked to only one user group, but I allow all other groups to see the forum name and description so that if they are interested in joining, they can request to join..... Think of it as a forbidden fruit marketing ploy. So, here is the problem. I want the "no_posts_in_this_forum" phrase translated to "If you wish to view the Mobility Dealer Only forum, please register by clicking the Register button in the menu bar or click Register here and during registration let us know that you are a mobility dealer and provide a phone number for confirmation." However, the translation does not allow for bbcode to allow for the http address. In addition, the translation box doesn't allow carriage returns either. Finally, I've tried to figure out how to get a text and message box into the registration window for the users interested in getting added to this user group to identify themselves. I chose the no posts in this forum message, because when you click on this restricted forum, that is the error message that pops up, and all other forums have messages in them. Any advice or thread pointers will be appreciated. Thanks! --------------- Added [DATE]1237277101[/DATE] at [TIME]1237277101[/TIME] --------------- Never mind. I figured out that it wants html code in the language text and that a custom profile field can be added that will appear on the registration page if so required. Problem Solved! I think....... |
