[DBTech] vBActivity & Awards v3 (vB3)
Developer Last Online: Mar 2023
DragonByte Technologies are proud to present vBActivity & Awards Lite v2: The most advanced, most feature-rich and most professional Activity tracking system ever.
Why vBActivity? vBActivity is Brought to you by the Designer of products such as RPG Inferno and Inferno vBShout and the programmer of RPG Integration v3. vBActivity Lite from DragonByte Tech is a modification designed to allow yourself and your members to keep track of their activity, and be rewarded for it. Give points for many different actions - Posting, Starting threads, Voting, Referrals... Furthermore, your members get rewarded for creating content which is popular! Gain points for every post in a thread you created, points for high thread ratings, for having a good reputation and more! You can utilise vBA to encourage members to do certain things on your forum. Lack of new threads? Increase the points given for starting a thread and watch as the thread count rises. Need an influx of new members? Give a boost to referral points and watch as people try to collect more points. Set Achievement targets for your members to encourage them to get more posts, start more threads, or do any one of a number of things! Is quality more important to your forum than quantity? Use our Awards system. Manually allocate medals to users for things like the most thoughtful post, the best thread or even things like the most unique signature! vBActivity v2 has been almost completely rewritten to provide a faster and more scalable activity tracking platform. Already it's showing great potential in the feature requests our Pro users have realised they can now request and see implemented. This is a major update that solves every performance problem, as well as many of the design problems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like this mod please hit the button to the right ----> Please remember to click the, button to the right if you installed the mod ----> What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. Please increase the Activity Target: Minimum Points to an even higher number, and keep doing so until the percentages normalise.

You're not supposed to change the Target Activity yourself, that's only for testing purposes - namely what you want to try to get the Activity Target: Minimum Points to become.

I must say this confused me at first as well.
Like the other poster I wanted to put in a fixed number of posts, say 20, and then gauge a user's activity from that. If I saw as user with 50% I knew he made 10 posts, a user with 10% only had 2 posts and so on. The system seems to sum all posts and calculate an average number of posts and set this as the new daily target. A good idea at first glance as posters constantly exceeding 100% will raise tomorrows target a little and by extension put a upward pressure on all posters to keep up and achieve 100% or more. In theory this would benefit the forum immensely. I fear the practice is somewhat different. If the general trend is for fewer posts that target drops to a new lower average and this in turn could lead to a gradual downward spiral with posters thinking that they are achieving, say 95%, of the target and settling for that. It still has merit as posters may be encouraged if they see themselves achieving over a 100% but I'm a bit pessimistic about that. Perhaps an option to have either a fixed target or a daily recalculated target would be a good idea? |

vBActivity v2.1.8
* Feature: Added an option to disable the "Activity Feed" page. This is recommended for large forums (10,000+ members, 500,000+ posts) as database servers have a hard time coping with a "points log" table that large. Fillip |
