Shoutbox Hack 1.04b

11/09/04 - Version 1.04b. Just an installer upgrade, nothing more. Nothing to see here, move along.

10/22/04 - Version 1.04a released. This is not an upgrade from 1.04. If you already have 1.04 installed, don't worry about this. This release just updates the installer and fixes any errors in it. If you had problems installing it last time, this should work better. If you need support, posting it here may get it answered, though posting at the board at GeekyDesigns.com is prefered.

This is the same hack formerly released by Link14716.

Install Instructions:

NEW INSTALL/UPGRADE FROM 1.03 to Current
 
 1. Upload the contents of the 'upload' folder to your forums directory.
 2. Run http://www.yoursite.com/forums/install/hack_install.php
 3. Select "Shoutbox Hack" and then follow the instructions to install.
 4. Follow the directions in the readme files when it gets to that step, then finalize the install (by clicking the last link in the install).
 5. Enjoy your shoutbox!

Matrixgl did a template modification to make the shoutbit more like its vB2 counterpart and released it (tested on 1.03) here.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT SUPPORT, SPECIFY THIS INFORMATION OR BE IGNORED:

What is the exact error you recieve?
Where does the supposed error happen?
What vB version are you running?

hey guys, I've used this Shoutbox on a number of other sites, and wanted to use it on my own, but I'm getting a couple of Parse Errors. I did read most of the thread here, but I didn't see anything that related to the errors I'm getting.

Parse Error #1:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/unifiedx/public_html/forum/index.php on line 57

require_once('./global.php');

I don't see anything wrong with that line, after comparing it to the original file.

Parse Error #2
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home/unifiedx/public_html/forum/admincp/usergroup.php on line 141

This was the file edit:

Same deal here with first error, after comparing it with the original file, those lines appear exactly as they should be. And no, I didn't use Dreamweaver for the file edits, I used UEdit. Gonna go back and try again with Notepad :ermm:

I'd like it if there is a way to have it auto-prun after x amount of days.

You have to add the last file edit to the Forumhome template. At least I'm assuming so, your homepage link takes me right back to vb.org :ermm:

Awesome hack It definitely helps keeps the posts in my forums on track, and all the non-consequential stuff stays neatly where it should Congratulations

If I may offer a suggestion for a future version though.. to have the shoutbox accessabile thru a popup shoutbox like on deviantArt.com.

We tried and and did not like the templates at all. The smiles mess up the layout and the java to TX the smile code the the input box don't work.
