What this is and does
LDM is a general-purpose tool for managing libraries of links and files, and handling uploads and downloads in a flexible way, while tracking and control user access. It has a range of integrated media players and a large library of 'plugin' extras.
Installation and Usage Explained in the on-line Wiki, with a brief explanation in the file instructions.txt in the release zip. The recent revision history is given in the first post of this thread.
Please use carefully and always backup your database before upgrading. Post reports of problems and suggestions for enhancements in this thread.
14.06.09 Version 2.3.0 is now the the officially-supported version. Works with 3.7 and vb 3.8. Please post comments in this thread
22.06.08 Version 2.2.9-post1 - This is the previous supported version. Works fine with all versions of vb 3.6 and vb 3.7. All standard features except profile integration and forum prefix selection work fine with vb 3.8.

Okay, I sorted that out. However, can I prevent the installation of a plugin for certain browsers? I don't want users to install a plugin. Which player wouldn't require a plugin?
I'm no expert but these all require plugins. The Windows Media Player plugin handles all three filetypes. The combination of Microsoft's Silverlight and Jeroen Wijering's player will deal with wmv and wma - the JW player features are available through the LDM extra JW-player-extensions. But most users will not have Silverlight installed, so will have to install it.
If you really want 'plugin free' then I think you need to convert to flash and mp3. But I may be wrong.
Very strange. I can't immediately reproduce this. Can you confirm which code release you are using, and check if you have modified the links_addnewcat, links_addnewlink_catselect_one, or links_addnewcat_oneentity template.
Also, do you by any chance have the php suhosin module installed? I've just worked with another site that has had strange behaviour with category creation, linked to that module.
I am using 2.3.0 beta1.
The templates you mentioned are unmodified.
I also don't use suhosin module. I have Xcache installed, but it was long time ago. I didn't have this problem before I upgraded to 2.3.0 beta1.
This is a great mod but something I don't have time to add for now so am looking to uninstall it for now. When I remove the files from includes I get errors at my site and some pages don't load. I upload these files again and everything is fine.
I don't mind leaving them there for the site to continue to work but when viewing someone's profile there are boxes there called -
My recent LDm hits
My recent LDm entries
How can I remove them from the profile because if I delete the file local_links_profile.php I get errors
some how none of the CMPS modules (PHP 1s) show up on the portal, i have added them to my main portal page but none of the appear. the LDM works great tho!
I have all my LDM pages' permission set to allow visit by guests, but I've noticed that google and yahoo crawlers in the 'Who's Online' display are shown the error message with an exclamation mark (it says the googlebot is 'Viewing Error Message'). These same pages however can be accessed by human guests. Any idea why this is the case?
