Members who have visited Today (or in the last 24 hours).
Developer Last Online: Nov 2023
This modification is no longer available or supported. This adds a simple display of all members who have visited the forum - either today (i.e. since the users midnight) or in the last 24 hours. Note: it is not possible for this hack to count guests - however, see this thread to track guests. The main features of the 3.6 version are basically the same as previous versions ; 1. It displays the list on the Forum Home. 2. The list view is collapsable, so you just see the number. 3. Invisible users are only displayed to those allowed to see them (with a "*") 4. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc will be displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup). 5. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the time they were last active. 6. The list is in member name order. 7. The mod is phrased. 8. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options. 9. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups). 10. The switch between Visited Today and Rolling 24 Hours is an ACP option. 11. The listing of members can now be suppressed (a simple message is displayed instead). 12. The list of names can be set to be always collapsed on initial view. 13. The option to record and display the Most Ever visitors has been added (v4.43+). (Options are in vBulletin Options > Who has visited today) Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager. To upgrade from the 3.5 version just re-import the product with the overwrite option set to yes. EvilHawk has also updated his WVT on a seperate page, see this post. like i said many times before can't you merge your 2 seperate vb hacks -> guest and member visits? all phpbb boards do this so it would be nice to have it on a VB board as well.

Well I still can't answer you, I don't use any portals so I don't know the details of how they work.
Sorry, but the answer is 'no' - it is much easier for me to maintain them separately. |

When there are thousands of members visiting every, the demand on resources is a bit high. Yes there are two distinct advantages in this hack for me:
1) if the number of members visited today is displayed, it impresses potential advertisers and new members 2) members wanting to know whether other members have visited the forums today can see that information (it's particularly useful for traders who are wanting to know if other members are ignoring their PMs/posts) Can I please make a request? Could we have an option to just show the totals on the home page without doing the long query to retrieve all the members? So just retrieve the count and display it. And then if the user clicks the display of the count, the list of members opens in a new page? This way both objectives above are achieved without having to retrieve all the members from the database every time the forum home is displayed. Thanks for your attention. |

To display the total you would still need to run the query (to count the records) - so nothing much would really be gained - and since this also adds an index to the user table, the query is not very intensive anyway.
If you have a slave SQL server (as many bigger sites do) then the latest versions (4.37 onwards) will run the query against that as well. |
