Current Features NOTE: VBGooglemap 3.0.0 contains the vulnerability fix. Please upgrade immediately. Version 3.0.0. also contains all features from 2.5.X As always you use modifications at your own risk. VBGooglemap Member Edition 2.5.1 brings you a lot of new features. It?s vital that you uninstall any previous version before upgrading/installing version 2.5.1. Upgrading from version 2.5.0 is easier. Instruction are available in the guide. As the uninstall function will not remove your googlemap data in the database but only the templates and files you can safely remove an older version. As a precaution you should always take a backup. This should be done on each major change you make to your bulletin board. IF YOU ARE RUNNING VERSION 1.0.3, 2.0.X AND YOU CHANGED TEXT DIRECTLY IN THE TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES AS VERSION 2.5.0 REQUIRES YOU TO UINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS. This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Please give credit where credit is due. You cannot remove any notice without prior written permission. Changes in this version SEE FIRST POST FOR FULL ROADMAP AND HISTORY Planned Features - TBD Volume warning high volume of users may slow down the load. Currently a load counter is included. Languages Thanks to Wachtmeister there is a German translation available to you all. Feel free to use it. The translation will be updated on each new version. Special - Read the attached PDF for more information. The pdf is also included in the zip file. - You'll need a googlemap key for your domain. Get your own key for your domain view http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html for more information. A googlemap key is only valid for a specific domain. You'll need a specific google account to create one. All is explained on the googlemap link indicated above. - Set the file permissions on the marker.xml file to 777 - The googlemap script can handle non-registered users. They will only see the main map and won't be able to enter information. This is reserved for logged in users (detected automatically) - usergroup permissions are available in the backend - To change location just drag the map while holding the left mouse key or by using the zoom and key functions on the left - First time loading of the map may take a few seconds longer because of Google API hosting Special Xbox Live version http://www.xboxlivenation.com/community/gamermap.php Credits This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Hello,
I installed (again) but cant figure out how to add locations. I add myself, as admin and registered user. But i dont see any balloon. What doe a user have to do to get his location on the map? Here is my site: http://www.formula1forum.eu/forum/vbgooglemapme.php No location balloons i guess?? maybe its my browser. EDIT: Seems like its works. Thank u. |

Great modification! I installed it and got it working.
Initially my markers were not showing up. I followed the PDF to the step, so I viewed the source inside the compiled .php file and noticed all the missing images had the same name: mm_20_.png. In the Administration Panel -> VBGooglemapME -> ME Usergroup Marker, I had to set the Markers before anything would show up. There were no default colors loaded. This might be something to address. I got the postbit working and now I'm making changes to it. I failed initially because I wasn't editing the legacy postbit. I had a few suggestions / requests: 1) Show avatars by default. 2) Change the maps' tooltips. I have never played with Googlemaps API before, but I've seen a few sites that work a little better, such as this one, where it automatically could show the username when moused-over, then clicking could reveal the current menu. The reason I dislike the current tooltips is because if entries are close together, you either must click the (X) to close them or find another one far enough away to let you change the selected marker, rather than simply mousing-over to see who's who. I hope this makes sense. 3) Add a warning to the map (maybe configurable in the panel) that tells people that it could take 10 minutes to show new entries on the map. This was an easy enough hack though. 4) Have an option to show usersonline (as in the main forum listing) below the map or its key. Thanks again for a great plugin, I'm going to play with it extensively. Edit - realized the default zoom (when clicking the postbit option) is 10, and it's hardcoded into the XML Edit 2 - does the color of the marker actually change if a user is offline? |

This is indeed a wonderful hack and so far so good it appears to be working but with one slight problem.
I have set the legend to show admin, supermod, and registered usergroup makers and have switched the others to zero. In doing so the rejected usergroups were all assigned the yellow marker. Admin was assigned red, supermod was assigned green and registered was assigned light blue. When I go to re-place my marker it shows up as red, however on the main map it shows up as yellow (ie not one of the visible usergroups). Why is this? |

Love the mod. Obviously well thought out and packaged. The marker colors are messing with me a tad as well if someone ever had a secondary usergroup or was in a different group.

Great hack although I am not in need to use it as most of my members are from the same country
