Major Additions - Goldbrick Audio/Video Media System

Goldbrick Media system for vBulletin 3.7

Thanks to all who nominated or voted this for MOTM.

Some of you might be looking for Anymedia. Well this has replaced it. It's a total rewrite from the ground up. A huge thanks goes to Sir Adrian for creating the framework. He can't cook soup but he sure can code.

Why the name goldbrck?

From Wikipedia:

Goldbricking, in today's terms, generally refers to staff who use their work internet access for personal reasons while maintaining the appearance of working.

From Urban Dictionary:

Goldbricking: To loaf or goof around on the job. Supposedly an old union term describing laborers (or more specifically, bricklayers) who were going so slow, it was as if each brick were made of solid gold. One can alse be referred to as a "goldbricker".

Dude, I spent all day at work goldbricking - surfing the web, making long distance phone calls - basically just picking my ass.

Goldbrick uses the following third party Products:

• Highslide Javascript. I've packaged it with the 3.1 download. Please read the license agreement on highlide's website. In short it's free for non-commercial use. http://vikjavev.no/highslide/

1. Upload file contents in the upload folder.

Supported Video Sites: 19 so far. Looking in goldbrick/sites folder for a full list. Users can create their own. I'll post a HOW-TO with the details.

1.5 didn't work for me on vb1.68 so I stuck with Anymedia. Although 1.8 seems to be working now.

Planning to upgrade to vb1.7 at some point so should know more then.

When I post content from my website such as a video is doesnt display the default thumbnail infact it displays nothing just a white line no thumbnail

I installed the new 1.8 & it's still not working to me. The options come up & I type info in. I post a link. But it don't convert into anything. Am I supposed to add some special bbc code before & after the youtube link?

Your killing me dude. What does that have to do with what I am telling you. The setup is changing the bbcode call function from media to url. Of course I have everything setup right or I wouldn't have even brought it to your attention in the first place. I'm not going to waste your time bouncing useless information off of you when I didn't setup the mod right. I can change the BBCode Tag Name in the ACP setup to url and it works fine but I'm obviously not going to leave it that way.

I do have nCode image resizer installed and it may be bumping heads with it. I have no idea but it is a possiblity. I do know that I have given you what I thought was rather good descriptive feeback on the problem but I am starting to feel like I'm not doing so well at it now.

Personally...I just posted the URL. I didn't add [url][/url] or [media][/media]. Our software automatically converted it into a URL. Once I physically added the media code (as there's no button) it converted like it was supposed to.

As for my personal profiles...the "my media" button is there but no videos. There's also the option to edit your profile & add a URL which I did but still nothing under my media.

Unresolved issues running 1.8:

1. Sometimes an M thumbnail is generated instead of a clip from the video site.

2. Sometimes a still image Highslides but does not lightbox.

3. Videos are viewable to those not registered to site even though set otherwise.

4. Sometimes posting the url just creates a text hyperlink and upon edit shows url tags were auto-added

5. Hand adding media tags does not work when the hack doesn't generate media tags by itself.

6. Changing the video viewer size does not result in changing the video viewer size.
