[DBTech] Dragonbyte Gallery v1 (vB4)
Developer Last Online: Mar 2023
Dragonbyte Gallery is a fully functional gallery system addon for your forum that will allow your users to create their own photo albums to store and display their images. You can run multiple instance of the gallery on the same site with the same files, yet have a completely different look and function because of the modular sytem it was built on. Users can customize how their gallery profile is displayed on each instance.

Each instance can have a different look and feel to it, and with enough work can have a completely different function because of the system we built it on. AJAX integration We used AJAX wherever we could to help reduce the page reloads Automatic resizing and thumbnail creation As long as your server can handle it, the users can upload whatever size pictures they want. The gallery will control the size displayed and stored, and will even create a thumbnail, all automatically. Users no longer have to worry about resizing their images to fit what your forum specifies. If you do not have a server with the power to resize images (GD image library can get pretty memory intensive) then you can set the gallery to reject images that do not fit into your size criteria. User Albums Users can create their own image albums to organize and display sets of their images. Albums can also be set to hidden and/or password protected. So users who want to have images for only certain friends or not visible to anyone else at all can easily organize them. Complete Feature List (Lite)

I'm getting a little concerned about support. It's been a week since I posted my first request and two weeks since I emails DBTech direct.

Sorry, it's very difficult for us to provide adequate support over @ vBulletin.org as notifications are lacking
I can't seem to find your email, what was it regarding? When you say vBGallery, do you mean the Album feature in vBulletin, or do you mean PhotoPost vBGallery? Fillip |

Thanks for the reply.
I am refering to Photopost VBgallery. I have about 28,000 images and about 200 categories. the issues are that I cannot seem to see the catagories and sub catagories in the drop down menu on the VBTech Gallery. Also no matter what resolution I import images from the old gallery I cannot use the tick box to allow enlarged image on gallery view. The email was sent via your contact form on VBTech site as I'm not able to log in. I have purchased software from you before. I wanted to buy the gallery version rather than use the light version. |

OK so let me get this straight. DBTech imports the original image, thums and file names. But the issue i have is that once imported I only get the thums and original size. So if you click on the image thumb you see a picture of lets say 6000x4000. I then tried to import the gallery again and set the size to 1024x1024 but that seems to set the maximun size the picture will ever be.
What I expected was a thumb, meduim image and tick the box in gallery view for larger image... is that the way it should work? |

If the new directory structure is found, it imports the ONE image it finds there. If the old directory structure is found, it imports the ONE image it finds there. If an even older structure is found, it imports the ONE image it finds there. Lastly, if it only finds the thumbnail, it imports this as a last resort as the ONE image it imports. PhotoPost seems to have at least 6 different storage methods used across their versions, and the importer tries its very best to find the correct image. Fillip |

Right that might explain the small images I have. OK
I know you are busy so I just need to know can I set up the gallery as thumb, medium and large image. I'll try and look through the Photopost mess and see where it is storing the images and perhaps try and merge them before importing. I'll buy the full version in the morning as well. |

If you can somehow figure out where PP is storing the full images for you, I might be able to update the importer to take into account your directory structure.

That's fine but to be honest it may not be so simple as that as some time ago we migrated from Photopost Pro to VBGallery as it was a far more superior script (it still had a lot of VBAdvance to it). I'm guessing that their import script simply made ne dirs and that is why I have what I have...
I'll plod along with this for now and upgrade once I can secure the originals. Thanks for your reply |

Ah, yeah I think PP does some form of compatibility nonsense rather than migrating all images into their new directory structure, which is one of the major problems we've ran across when trying to import.
