Facebook Connect
This add-on allows your guests and existing users to login with their Facebook account through Facebook Connect.

There is NO NEED to upgrade or reinstall if you already installed this mod for 3.7

Upgrade to 2.0.6 so that users with the new super long IDs will be able to login.

This mod conflicts with PhotoPost vBGallery!

Quick fix:
Disable the following PhotoPost vBGallery plugins:
  • Userinfo Merge
  • Integrate Postbit Showthread

Benefits of Facebook Connect
  • Users can simply login with their Facebook account without going through the registration process.
  • Increase user interaction and your traffic through Facebook notifications and news-feeds!
Features
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
  • There is a reply to their thread or a thread that they're subscribing to
  • They receive a new PM
News-Feed will be published on to the user's wall when the user:
  • Logs in for the first time
  • Replies to a thread
  • Creates a new thread
Fetch user data from Facebook
Fetch data like name, location, profile picture and use it on your forums! (NOTE: Some data may not be available for some users)

Automatically befriend user's friends
If any of the user's friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends!

Troubleshooting
Server Requirements:
PHP 5

If you get an error:

Code:
The Facebook Connect cross-domain receiver URL http://www.SITEURL.com/xd_receiver.h...%220.699%22%7D must have the application's callback URL http://www.SITEURL.com/forums/ as a prefix. You can configure the callback URL in the application's settings.
Means that there is something wrong with your callback URL. Your callback URL must be where xd_receiver.htm is; so when you enter [callbackurl]/xd_receiver.htm into your browser you should see a blank page (not a 404 page not found error or anything else).

If you get a continues this means there is a javascript error. Make sure you've done all the template edits correctly (especially footer & navbar). Clear your cache and reload the page.

If nothing happens when you click the Facebook Connect button make sure your callback url domain is the same as you forum domain (the one set in your forum settings) - more specifically make sure that there is a www (or isn't) in both domains.

Many more features may be implemented in the future so keep checking for updates.

When this app is turned on, I get the following error on every forum page:

PHP Code:
Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected '{' in /home4/bostonlo/public_html/forums/includes/functions.php(5721) : eval()'d code on line 13
When I click on News Feed Templates in the FB Connect Options in my AdminCP, i get this error:

PHP Code:
Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected T_STRINGexpecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home4/bostonlo/public_html/forums/includes/facebook/facebook.php on line 38
can someone please help me fix this.

The plugin does need a lot of work, proxied email addresses and other data fields could be added. However facebook connect does associate your member account with a user account. The issue, I think, is that Facebook connect doesn't give you an option to store your details in the admin CP. It also doesn't give you the option to associate your vBulletin login with a different facebook account.

It will be going live next week so I will report back, but so far it all looks good. The only thing I see is missing is that users could do with some options to turn on/off the notifications.

This isn't a "bug" other than it appears you created a new account rather than associating it with your current account when you first used it.
Ok... this is not the case for me. I simply cannot associate my existing account with facebook. On the surface, things seem to go through ok, but when i post messages, etc there is no integration.

Maybe the mod developer can offer some insight into where it might be going wrong. Only major mod I'm running is vbseo.

I am getting this error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function print_datamap_row() in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\admincp\fbconnect_datamap.php on line 97

when I try to change the data mapping.

I upgraded today and it seems my submit and cancel button on the FB login form have disappeared. Not sure what happened. Can someone guide me as to what I have to do to get these buttons back.

Thanks in advance.

yes the application is installed perfectly on the facebook end. The integration is working fine, except for when it comes to existing users.

Frogster: I am seeing the same on my end.... if you look very closely you will notice that they are still there, however the iframe doesnt appear to be big enough to house all the content.

I've only recently installed facebook connect on MyModelTalk. I only see the Facebook connect login in vBulletin while viewing the forum as a guest. When i'm logged in it goes away. Are you two saying the login should NORMALLY show all the time? So that people can change what login they are associated with?
