There's a vB4 version of this mod available: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231427

DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

Because a lot of people keep on asking this:
This mod works with any version of vBulletin 3.7.x and 3.8.x!

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

You can find an installation manual in the zip package (Readme-Install.txt).

We try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if we don't ask for them, as we said we try to give a high level of support in this thread. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find 6 screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software. You can see the newest version in action at the Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).

Changelog (version 5.1.2)

Jelle
  • Backported CSRF security fix from the vB 4 release
  • Added permission check for Update Counters
  • Fixed PHP warnings when running PHP 5.3
  • Removed the imagecreatefrombmp() function. It doesn't exist.
  • Added permission check for rating submissions
You can find all the changelogs of this and older versions here.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the second most asked question. Have a look at this post for the solution.

It doesn't work with GARS?!

If you also use the latest version of GARS, you will get the "Fields marked in RED must be filled in!" error when uploading a file. I provided a fix here on the GARS forums.

Addons

We are offering 3 addons for this mod at the moment (have a look at the bottom of this post for them). DownloadsII contains 5 hook locations for the vBulletin plugin systems, so you can add extra functionality without file edits.

Do you want to help expanding DownloadsII (if you are a coder)? Check out this post!

Notes
  • ecDownloads Buddy is NOT compatible with this version. If you are using the Buddy, you should UNINSTALL it before installing DownloadsII ver 5.x.x. The Buddy's features are now integrated into DownloadsII.
  • DownloadsII is a direct derivative work from Ron1n's ecDownloads.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you very much.

Well, that's just my point. I've not heard of anyone ever trying this. I'm trying to figure how it would handle multiple extension checks and if it's configured to create subfolders in the download folder. In any case, have you made certain that all the files in the directory have allowed extensions? If so, have you tried allowing the file folder extension (I forget what that is off the top of my head).

I'm not saying files have to be zipped, I'm saying that it may not recognize a path to a folder, as this is configured to upload individual files, not the contents of file folders. To get multiple files you'd have to ZIP it, as nothing in the description says it's a multi-uploader.

Look, the way i see it is that this IMPORT function is to actually make a list of all files in one folder, that you can then insert each into the Downloads. Its not adding a complete folder but it puts all files into fields so you can easily add them to the Downloads.

Otherwise, how would you actually put in Downloads that you already have on your webspace, since you dont have to upload them again and so. I saw one line of fields and I think if there wouldnt be that error that I posted, it would show the other files also in these fields, in a list down.

I have to make a screenshot from that one line what i saw before the error gets shown. Then i think you know how i mean.

And btw, a Download Script that can add all the files of an entire folder is not uncommon, many can do that actually.

EDIT:

Here is the screenshot of that one line that I see after the error.

I am sure if it wouldn?t be for the Error, i would see that a lot more often with the files already inserted and I would just have to add them with the IMPORT FILES button. But because of this error it doesn?t work. And yes, I used the right file extensions for these files. But that OPEN BASE DIR function error seems to be server related, but I am just not 100 % sure since i saw this Script the first time today.

My mistake, from the start, I missed the word "import". I thought you were trying to upload folders form the user end. I completely forgot about the import option in the Admin CP.

If I'm reading your error message correctly, it sounds like your host does not allow scripts to run outside /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs:/tmp. Have your tried testing a folder with that absolute path?

By the way, your screenshot isn't enlarging.

Ok, now we?re getting into something.

Well, my host is in this case myself, its my server. I am not so the expert in things, I get along with most stuff over time. I Just didnt had that before.

Does anyone know how to change that ? I mean, its in the httpd.conf I know, that setting. But I just don?t know 100 % how to change it, to what path. Anyone has maybe experience with that himself, with his own Server ?

Quote:
<IfModule mod_php5.c>
php_admin_flag engine on
php_admin_flag safe_mode on
php_admin_value open_basedir "/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs:/tmp"
Thats btw. whats in my httpd.conf for that vhost I am using on my Server. So to what do I change that properly that i don?t have that problem anymore ?

I haven't gotten real in depth into that aspect myself, but I believe it all depends on what kind of server your running and what kind of tools you have access to. This has a few options as well as what to do to the httpd.conf file if applicable: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/0...-effect-error/

I found many topics about that and how to change it, but i just don´t know the main problem about it. To what I change the path that it works without actually deactivating the SAFE-MODE for that Domain which I don´t want to do for security reasons.

My Server runs with Debian 4 and PLESK 8.6 btw. just in case its important for this problem.

Did this not help any?

You can also opt to allow your PHP scripts to access additional directory instead without disabling the protection. Additional directory can be added to the line, separated with color “:”. For example, to add /new_directory to the allow list:

php_admin_value open_basedir “/home/user_account/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp”

php_admin_value open_basedir “/home/user_account/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp:/new_directory”

Ok, i got it solved by temp. disabling the open basedir for this Domain. Now I could finally get to the Import form. I added around 6 files and then pressed on IMPORT and it took almost 10 Minutes for those Files to import. Wow, and I sure don´t run my site on shared hosting, the whole server performance is at my disposal. But I think this took a bit too long for just 6 files, even if they´re all around a couple of 100's MB each.

Anyone noticed that the Import is that slow, does anyone tried it with bigger files ?

Would it be possible to change the values of the Rating capability in the Mod ? Currrently its set to values like in school grades.

A
A+
A-
B
B+
B-
C
C+
C-

etc. and i would prefer if it would be possible like

1
2
3
4
5
6
7

which is the usual way of ratings in Download Scripts. That should be changable somewhere, right ?

P.S: Is the guy who made the mod still around ?

Hrm, I've not noticed any slowdown when doing a large import. The couple I've tried anyway.

Dang, I can't get my forum open at the moment. I'm thinking it would be as simple as a template edit.

I believe he said a while back that he was working on an update. Usually that means you won't hear from them for a while until the update is finished.
