What this is and does
LDM is a general-purpose link and file manager, which handles user uploads and downloads in a flexible way. A range of media players is integrated into LDM and others are included as plugin extras. LDM is described below in the first post of this thread, which also contains a brief list of the currently-known bugs.
This release of LDM works correctly with all VB versions 3.6.x and recent versions of vbadvanced.
I do have 1 problem, when I select force_redirect to 0 (hidden Link) and I try to download (save) am MP3 (didn't try other formats) I get another browser window and garbage on the screen. When I select force_redirect = 1 then I get the mp3 to download with no problem but I dont want the link to be visiable. Would you know what could be the problem? I'm running vb3.6 with LD 2.2.6beta1
I imagine you are having problems with mouse left clicks? I also assume that you are using IE?
Can you check that mouse right click/save as work ok with force_redirect=0.
The problem that you are reporting seems to happen when another piece of software has 'taken control' of your browser's downloads. The garbage you are seeing on the screen is almost certainly the contents of the mp3 file. A usual culprit is QuickTime.
There is a minor change available to LDM to force downloads to work properly, which I can describe if necessary.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare empty_category() (previously declared in /home/maroceve/public_html/forums/includes/functions_gallery.php:2069) in /home/maroceve/public_html/forums/includes/local_links_include.php on line 2935
any ideas ?
Yes, sorry about this. Recent versions of LDM used the same function names as the gallery hack in some of its code. The problem only appear within the vbadvanced interface. It is fixed in the 2.2.6 code.
I just upgraded my forums to 3.6 and upgraded the ldm to 2.6. beta1 and I reported this error to vbulletin.comI reported it to them because when I searched the thread I found another error based on class_core.php and you asked the person to report it to them as it had something to do with unset array elements in the vB code. The support people said this was more or less correct but that
I rolled back to 2.2.5 and it works fine.
I think I know where the problem may be, but I will need to see your site to confirm this. If I'm right, it's a case of fixing one problem (people having difficulties with their database connection timing out) but introducing another. Can you reinstall 2.2.6 and send me a PM with details of your site and how to trigger the problem?
It is possible to install this more than once, but it needs some care and I have not tried the process myself. Basically, you will need to make a copy of each of the php files and give the copy a new name. You will then edit the copy of the file local_links_init.php to set up a new database table prefix and to point all the main control pages at the copied php scripts. Finally, you will need to edit all the copies of the main php scripts and check all the 'include', 'include_once', 'require' and 'require_once' statements.
There is an easier way to achieve what you want...
Most of the layout settings (linkbit, category style, etc) can be set on a per-category basis as well as globally. Basically, these settings are 'inherited' from parent to child, so each category either uses its own settings or looks to its parent.
So set up a new branches in your LDM, e.g. with a top level called 'photos'. On the add/edit category page for 'photos' choose the second tab (Control Settings) and define the layout that you want for this category and its children. E.g. tell LDM to use the photo linkbit.
I hope you had good holidays (if you had holidays). So many questions to answer...
Thanks, I never even saw that possibility .
I already had a copy with every script, table and reference renamed, but was waiting for you to return. Glad I did.
I just made two main categories Links and Photoalbum, and changed the navbar template to refer to them from different buttons.
Have to get some photo's in to see if it works, but I don't doubt that at all. I already thought this is a great add-on, but I now even think better of it
Andrew, I searched the code from the 3.5 version. I'm looking for the piece for the autocreate-threads plugin that adds the thumbnail image during the autocreate-threads process?
I have also upgraded to the latest beta, and I'm still having an issue with getting my settings working if I include the vBA CMPS page. It used to work, not with the latest though.

Including the thumbnail is built into the autocreate-threads plugin. If the entry has an associated image, the plugin will include this in the new thread. The actual layout of the new thread is defined in the phrase <ldm_thread_create_body>. If you look at that phrase, you'll see that it takes five parameters - these refer to the link name, link description, a url jump that takes the user to the entry, the name of your LDM and the image link.

I'm going to need a bit more information on this - I briefly noticed your post - can you send me a PM with fuller informaton, so that IO can work out what is happening/not happening.
No New Downloads.. for some reason everything new that i add is dated: 01-01-1970
I have recently upgraded vb to 3.6 and i upgraded the LDM 2.2.5 .. i have uninstalled and installed LDM 2.25 twice now.. including removing all files and replacing with new ones and overwriting the product with new installation xml.
The vbux author discussed this with me in June, but I haven't heard anything more from him. It isn't a change that I can easily make by myself.
Hi AndrewD,
I hope you had a good trip. and welcome back to the busy ground
I don't think joining with vbux is a good idea for LDM, since as my opion vbux is a mess for now, it taking a big part into the VB database, creating the forum slow down, they still need a lot of works done .. For a small forum, i think vbux is doing fine, but for a busy forum, i think it's not a good idea to put vbux into it I've had installed vbux 4 times, and uninstalled it as many times.. if so, LDM will stand as one spot if LDM integrated into vbux .. i think it's much better for LDM to stand alone for now.. the LDM design is much stronger as it is now (such as DBs <-- mainly and codes).. and I don't think it will be if it integrated with vbux.
