What this is and does
LDM is a general-purpose link and file manager, which handles user uploads and downloads in a flexible way. A range of media players is integrated into LDM and others are included as plugin extras. LDM is described below in the first post of this thread, which also contains a brief list of the currently-known bugs.
This release of LDM works correctly with all VB versions 3.6.x and recent versions of vbadvanced.
How can I set the windows media player to allow my members to jump forward in movies by dragging the bar. Many of my members are annoyed because there's no fast forwarding.
and could a mod please delete the last 3. Thank you. The server was telling me it was down for maintenance and wouldn't let me submit the post (or so it seemed).
Is there a way to NOT even allow people to view links/sections if they aren't part of a particular group. I have it set that they can't download, but I'd rather them not even be able to see that the file is there..
hey hey ..quick question (sorry as I am sure this was asked but couldn't find it in a search):
-- Is there a way to limit usage by user's post count?
(ie: can't view or download links or download until have X posts in forums?)
links 2.2.7-post2\release\extras\block-useraccess
There you'll find a plugin for that purpose.

You can set limits on downloads using the admin panel in LDM... to restrict users visiting some categories, I think you must set this using one of your existing forum permissions.

As ObMob says, this is done using the forums protection system.
Choose (or set up) one of your forums that has the same usergroup permissions that you want for your LDM category/entries.
Edit the category
Find the section 'Parent Forum'
Select the relevant forum, and check the 'also make this forum the parent of all links'

I would be irritated also.
Technically, this is about getting windows media player to use the 'partial content http 206' features that are built into the web and into LDM. I'm not sure why it's not already working for you, but will invetsigate.
Popular Entries During Last (so many) days - where do I go to make it say 7 or 14 days. I haven't got it up and running on my forum yet so that my members are using it, but everytime I look at it, it just says Popular Entries During Last 0 days. How does that work.
LDM/admin/settings/days_seen_on_portal should do it.

This is not built in, but it's easy to achieve with a template edit.
First, I assume you want to give your users the ability to choose a category in the first place - you can take this decision away from them by removing their 'can_select_category' permission, in which case they will always post the entry in the category they are viewing when they click 'add entry'.
Second, I assume you are using the category *select* menu method, rather than the alternative long list of check boxes.
Edit the *links_addnewlink_catselect_multi* template and replace by the attached.
After you have done this, users who have *can_set_permissions* permission will still be able to select multiple categories. Others will only be able to select one.
