Members who are chatting in Flashchat 6. Details »» | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
This modification is no longer available or supported. Note: I no longer use Flashchat, and development and support of it at Tufat appears to have died in 2010. vBulletin 4.x Version ** This is not compatible with vBulletin 4.0.7 or Less ** Please remember to click Mark as Installed if you use this modification. Please fee free to nominate this modification for the MOTM, and/or use the donate link provided (Support Developer). This is a simple display of who is currently chatting in FlashChat - on the forum homepage display. Note: This modification is for Flashchat 6, it will not work with Flashchat 4, and may not work with Flashchat 5. The main features are ; 1. It displays the list on Forum Home with the "Users online" display. 2. The list view is collapsable, so you see just the number. 3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc are displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup) 4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the room they are chatting in and their status (away etc). 5. If the chat is empty, a simple "no one is chatting" message is displayed. 6. The option to record and display the Most Ever chatters can be enabled. 7. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options. 8. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups). Added in v4.0.2 9. The list view can be set to be always collapsed on page load. 10. The mod will try and detect if Flashchat is installed, and display an error if not. (Options are located in vBulletin Options > Who Is Using Flashchat). Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager. Further Notes: This hack cannot display any bots in the chat, due to the strange way that Flashchat stores this information. I have no connection with the Flashchat product - if you have questions about Flashchat functionality then their forums are located here. Support This modification is not supported. This has been updated for style changes introduced in vBulletin 4.0.8. It will probably look ok in older versions, but will not be perfect. We're still using vB 3.85 because we're waiting for a new skin. I've installed Flashchat 6 because we like to remain current with this program.
Is there any method for making this mod work for Flashchat 6 on vB 3.85? |

Nope, but afaik, my Flashchat 5 mods (for 3.8) will work on Flashchat 6.

Thank you for pointing out the fix Paul. The v3.8.002 for Flashchat 5 does appear to work with Flashchat 6 and vB 3.8.5.
We'd just given up on another chat program and decided to return to Flashchat and this feature is definitely critical. |

Just as a little information the display of "who is chatting" in the chat room in the whats on section can be re-worked to display on the forumhome - top right / left etc.
The reason i have done this was the simple fact it seemed the members (lazy as ever) will not scroll or look at full sites pages, which with location of the whats on being low down as default. I reworked it to the way it is done in the attached picture and with the flashing icon - and yes people are using the Chat area more frequently and have commented on the fact they can see it more easily. This is just to let people know it can be done. it can be seen here providing the chatroom is being used........ http://www.tabletennistalk.co.uk/forum/forum.php |

Hi Paul
Thanks for continuing with these mods, even though you don't use Flashchat yourself. In a previous version of this mod there was some discussion about showing the link in the navbar with the total amount of chatters with it, eg "Flashchat (11)". This was previously done by changing the hook one of the plugins used from forumhome_start to global_start, and using $totalchatters as the variable in the navbar. Is this still the case, as I haven't been able to get it to work yet? Thanks |

Sadly i tried the hook changes and using the $totalchatters variable but the mod wont work without changes to the display chatters template and changing the hook to navbar, which removes it from the "whats on" box and then replaces it into the navbar like my dump above, with an image flashing aswell as the member names in the chat.
