Automatic Welcome PM
This Hack will automatically send welcome PMs to new members.
Message Title and Body are Phrases (Varname welcomepm in Phrasegroups EMail Subject Text and eMail Body Text), so you can have Messages in different languages.
You can also specify which User should appear as Sender in vBulletin Options / User Registration Options).

FAQ
  1. Q: How to I set/change the sender?
    A: Go to ACP / vBulletin Options / vBulletin Options / User Registration Options.
    On the bottom, you will find an input box for the userid that should appear as the sender.
  2. Q: How to I change the message title/body?
    A: Go to ACP / vBulletin Options / vBulletin Options / User Registration Options.
    On the bottom, you will find an input box for the userid that should appear as the sender.
    In the description text for this input box, there are links for changing the text.
  3. Q: When I try to install this, I get "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions.php on line xxx".
    What am I doing wrong?
    A: You are trying to import the XML as a Plugin which is wrong. It must be imported as a Product (ACP / Plugin System / Manage Products).
  4. Q: Why does this Hack not work?
    A: Although it is possible that you have discovered a new Bug that causes it not to work, it is more likely that you have made an installation/configuration/customization mistake.
    Before asking for support, please check:
    - Did you enter the Userid of the Sender?
    - Does the sender have permission to use PMs?
    - Does Usergroup registered have permission to use PMs?
    - Are you using the original Phrases?

Please only click Install if you actually have installed/are using this Hack, and click Uninstall whan you don't use it any longer!

Important Notice
This Hack is not designed nor necessary for vBulletin 3.6.
Do not install it on vBulletin 3.6 if you don't want to run into problems.
You should uninstall this Hack before upgrading to vBulletin 3.6

Well shoot. I was so excited about this. Got a fresh install of 3.5.2. Only other plugin I have is ibProArcade v2.5.3.

Just registered test user and no welcome PM. Logged out and back in, nothing.

DANG!

it did not work for me on 3.5.2 either.

Now if I could JUST find a "working" hack to start a Welcome Thread when a new user registers, I'd be a real happy camper.

Thanks for this nice hack Andreas and I know your time is very spare but only one question.
If somebody is registering on my site he can choose between 3 different Groups and because I use amykhars hack "Add User to Secondary Usergroup Based on the Value of a Custom Profile Field at Reg." it would be very nice if there would be an option to send different pm to each user based of the choosen usergroup.
But knowing you have a lot of work, it's only an idea.

That would need a complete rewrite of this Hack, feel free to do that if you want - I dno't have the time to nor am I interested in doing it.

my new users' PM shows up from the user i want it to, but in the PM Notification email, it shows as being from 'Unregistered'.

any way to fix that?
