Complete Wordpress/Vbulletin Bridge - Share Users And Postings
Developer Last Online: Oct 2022
DOES NOT WORK FOR Vbulletin 4.x This version probably no longer works for Wordpress 3.x. I have started developing this product over and have released the NEW version here: http://www.lampwrights.com/showthread.php?t=41 This mod bridges your Vbulletin users over to Wordpress. You can also use Vbulletin as your comment engine instead of the spammy one built into Wordpress. You can display the comments inline in your post. You need not use the comment feature, if your only interested in sharing users. You can map your Vbulletin Usergroups to Wordpress Usergroups and those users will then be recognized as registered Wordpress users. For example, user "Joe" registers at your forum and logs in. Joe then clicks on your Wordpress page. Joe is instantly added to the Wordpress user base with the permissions you set for his usergroup. In otherwords, if a user comes over belonging to the "Registered User" group, you can select that he is placed in the Wordpress "Subscriber" usergroup. If you change a users group from vbulletin, it will automatically change in Wordpress. Requirements:
01/03/2007 - Fixed the unlock_tables() issue on some setups. 01/03/2007 - Fixed a bug in the script that if you used a MySQL database prefix, integration would not work. Please see this post for more information! Special thanks to axisoverdrive for giving me access to his server and letting me troubleshoot the issue! 01/05/2007 - Fixed issue where if a user saved (not published) and published later, the post would not be added to the forum. 01/05/2007 - When a post is edited, it will also be edited in the forum. 01/08/2007 - Modified slightly so when posts are edited, so are the titles (if edited). 02/07/2007 - Major modifications to new version (now 2.05). The list follows:

This question always seems to pop up, so I will add these instructions
If for some reason you can no longer login to Wordpress, or you get errors, just delete or rename the vbbridge.php file and that will deactivate the plugin. hope this helps someone who searches for Wordpress Blank Page |

Fixed the issue with the scrolling text box on the post page, and also finally nailed (I think) the issue with funny characters (encoding).. The only thing you need to do to upgrade is upload the new vbbridge.php file. Have at it people.

Hi,
Well, first of all really thx for the great plugin! I installed the plugin for use with vb 3.6.8 and a strange error appears when try to login, and then I make the update to 3.7.0 and the error continue. When I login in VB and try to access /wp-admin/ in WP folder, the user was imported to WP, but the usergroup contain a code like: "Project-Id-Version: wpmu_ptbr.pot POT-Creation-Date: PO-Revision-Date: 2007-05-30 15:14-0300 Last-Translator: Charles Pilger Language-Team: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Poedit-Language: English X-Poedit-SourceCharset: utf-8 X-Poedit-KeywordsList: __;_e X-Poedit-Basepath: . X-Poedit-SearchPath-0: " If I change manually the usergroup to one that exist (like Administrator) works great, but every user that I try to connect remains the same strange code! I correctly map the usergroups in "Vbridge User Settings", and don't know how fix this error! Oh, I use the WP with portuguese language, because I use a Brazilian site! In other way, the "Encoding for pages and feeds" is setting ISO-8859-1 just like my VB! Can you help me with this problem?! Regards, |

Sounds like you are using Wordpress MU, not Wordpress.

Stupidly, I didn't read in-depth about what happens to users with the same name if I use the vBbridge to connect WordPress to vBulletin. My WordPress stripped me of permissions, but after poking around in the database for a few hours I luckily thought up of duplicating every one of my user's features identical to my other admin. I figured out what stripped me of my permission - my wp_capabilities went from a:1:{s:13:"administrator";i:1;} to a:1:{s:0:"";i:1;}. After switching it back using some trickery I now have User Level 10 again, which is what the installation script of WordPress gives the first user upon installing WordPress for the very first time. I'm not sure if I'm going to use this feature, but if I do I'm definitely going to look further into just how cohesive the two databases work together or clash. For starters, what user id should I attribute to vBulletin in the WordPress admin panel if I can't assign it to myself? Do I make up a user ID or do I create a new user on vBulletin and use that ID? Very tricky stuff. Thanks for all the hard work you've put into building this cool feature though. Peace.
