You can now nominate hacks yourself for hacks of the month. There is a link on the right of hacks on top of the files.

INSTALL

Detailed installation instructions and screenshots in the included pdf file.

Current Features

NOTE:
VBGooglemap 3.0.0 contains the vulnerability fix. Please upgrade immediately. Version 3.0.0. also contains all features from 2.5.X

As always you use modifications at your own risk.

VBGooglemap Member Edition 2.5.x brings you a lot of new features. It?s vital that you uninstall any previous version before upgrading/installing version 2.5.x.

Upgrading from version 2.5.0 is easier. Instruction are available in the guide.

As the uninstall function will not remove your googlemap data in the database but only the templates and files you can safely remove an older version. As a precaution you should always take a backup. This should be done on each major change you make to your bulletin board.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING VERSION 1.0.3, 2.0.X AND YOU CHANGED TEXT DIRECTLY IN THE TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES AS VERSION 3.0.0. REQUIRES YOU TO UINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS.

This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Please give credit where credit is due. You cannot remove any notice without prior written permission.

Changes in this version

Planned Features
- TBD

Volume warning

high volume of users may slow down the load. Currently a load counter is included.

Languages

Thanks to Wachtmeister there is a German translation available to you all. Feel free to use it.

The translation will be updated on each new version.

Special

- Read the attached PDF for more information. The pdf is also included in the zip file.
- You'll need a googlemap key for your domain. Get your own key for your domain view http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html for more information.
A googlemap key is only valid for a specific domain. You'll need a specific google account to create one.
All is explained on the googlemap link indicated above.
- Set the file permissions on the marker.xml file to 777
- The googlemap script can handle non-registered users. They will only see the main map and won't be able to enter information. This is reserved for logged in users (detected automatically)
- usergroup permissions are available in the backend
- To change location just drag the map while holding the left mouse key or by using the zoom and key functions on the left
- First time loading of the map may take a few seconds longer because of Google API hosting

I'm seeing this problem too, otherwise a great mod.

I installed it and it works well but when I added an entry and approved it from admincp, my entry doesn't show!
I went to "list users" and click on "show on map" and still nothing happens!

I just upgraded -- I love this hack and so do my members. Thanks stonyarc.

I had the missing pin images too, had the drop shadows but no pins. Even though I double checked that all files had uploaded; had all the usergroups set to their colors; and had group and file permissions and cron jobs where they were supposed to be.

I fixed it by uploading all the files again, and then then my pins appeared.

I'd also love to see an option to suppress the display of certain user groups. I don't want my members to know how I have them all categorized

Same.. as stated above. Would be nice if this was addressed. Having the link there might as well just be a link to the googlemap. :/

Very nice!

I've installed this on my site however, when I click on the Googlemap Me link on the navbar, I get a message saying I do not have permission.

I have not touched the permissions since the install. I've entered my map key.

Just confused on this one....any help is appreciated.

Hey guys,

I found that my postbit was getting a little cluttered. To fix this, one of the housekeeping items I did was to replace the standard postbit "Location:" phrase variable with the one for the Googlemap link.

1. In postbit or postbit_legacy find:

Code:
<if condition="$post['field2']"><div>$vbphrase[location_perm]: $post[field2]</div></if>
replace the vbphrase:

Code:
$vbphrase[location_perm]
With this phrase for the map link:

Code:
$post[findme]
The resulting code is this:

Code:
<if condition="$post['field2']"><div>$post[findme]: $post[field2]</div></if>
It now looks like this:

EDIT: I also edited the phrase "vbgooglemapme_findme" to say "Location" instead of "My Location"

Or better yet have the Location link actually go to that persons location so it wasn't basically just a link to your google map!!

This problems never going to be addressed. Grrr

We had the same thing, we have those nice little icons for msn, aim, etc.. and wanted to add a nice image for map, instead of that text.

What to do:
go to ur forum-database.
Find in table phrases (or vb3_phrases, whatever u have) the record with the varname: vbgooglemapme_findme
If u found that record, edit the text from: My location to something like: <img src="images/globe.gif" border=0 title="My location" />
Save it and u're done there...

U'll notice nothing changed in the forum yet.. That's because that weird cashe or w/e isn't updated.
To update this, go in ur adminpanel to search phrases and search for <img src="images/globe.gif" border=0 title="My location" />
Then press the edit-button.
And after that click the save-button. (nothing changed, just press save)

From now on u'll see the image

PS, instead of image, u can use other html, like <button onclick=...>My location</button> if u want a button

If u can't access ur db, u can edit all ur html in teh postbit-template of course..

Also in the backend (admincp) you have to select what image is linked to what usergroup and if the usergroup should appear or not.
We also noticed, that when u add ur location, and use html, like <br /> it parses it all wrong, and u won't see ur icon on them map

:bunny:

Now we got the following problem
When u added urself it goes fine..
But when u want to edit ur location, the following things are missing/empty:
- The map to zoom in with is gone
- The BB-code text-fields are empty.

Anyone got a solution ?
I think it is in the vbgooglemapme_display_yourlocation template...
