Major Additions - Forum Tournaments & Ladders

[Script Demo] [Version History]
Compatible with 3.6.x, 3.7.x, 3.8.x

Tournament Description:
Users or teams can join tournaments. Once full the tournament starts. In single elimination tournaments competitors progress through rounds of tournament with the number of rounds depending on the number of players in tournament which is set on tournament creation. Last Man Standing Tournaments also supported.

Ladder Description:
Users or teams can also join ladders and challenge other players or teams in the ladder. Elo rating system is used which calculates the difficultly of a match according to the players' ranks and this is taken into account when the ranks are updated after the match is finished.

  • Hall of Fame (Top 10 Tournament Players)
  • Permissions can be set per usergroup
    (AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> {Select Usergroup} -> Tournament Permissions)
  • Tournaments start automatically when no slots are left
  • Tournaments have proper Date/ Time converted to users timezone and DST
  • 2 Tournament Modes: Last Man Standing and Single Elimination
  • Filter Tournaments Displayed according to Tournament Status

  • 'Start Tournament' for Single Elimination adds bye players and creates brackets

Installation:

1. Follow instructions included in .zip
2. If you are using v3.6.x you will need to download this product file and import it
   (It contains memberinfo css which is used in profile comments in v3.7.x and is in used in Tournaments Comments and Team Profiles)
3. Click Install

When trying to install the new product for 2.6.1... It goes to
Importing Product, Please Wait...

and never goes. Just sits there with the page being done.. which of course means mine doesn't work now because of sql errors because it didn't finish installing..

Any reason this is happening?

Also, It would be nice for a master admin to be able to admin all of it as oposed to only team leaders can admin their challenges, teams, and wutnot.

Yes, it only displays that user is viewing the modification not specific page of mod.

Hmm, I cannot think why that would occur, might have been due to server timing out.

Never noticed that modification before. Save competitions.php with new name and open product file and competitions.php and find and replace all instances of 'competitions.php'

Regarding who is online. I mean a bit that shows at the top of the competition mod showing the users viewing.

I still have version 2.2.1. My tournament is over now and I'm ready to upgrade. But I'm still afraid that I'l lose my current tourbeys or some database errors, since many people have posted about them...

Can you quarantee that I will not lose my old tourneys?

You will not lose any info i have ongoing tournaments and they are still all there after the upgrade to the new version.

Is tournaments just for tournaments and compeitions just for ladders? Or what is the difference between the two?

Use product-errorfix2008.xml to completely uninstall modification tables. (Only use if you have no tournament data, it completely uninstalls the mod.)

Sorry vB_Competitions 2.6.1 .zip contains both tournaments and ladders. (The other file was just an old version)

I got to say this mod is simply awesome. We are currently using most of the features and are very happy. Diffrent categories for tournaments and ladders would be a pretty nice feature. Keep up the good work.
